Chapter 54 It's a backless dress

Aubrey’s pov ;

When I got home, the first thing I noticed was that Ryder wasn’t anywhere in sight. Figures. He was probably off with Sage, comforting her and tending to her every whim.

Humph! The thought alone was enough to sour my mood further. I was exhausted, and all I wanted was some peace and quiet.

After grabbing myself a glass of water, I headed upstairs with the shopping bags in hand. The dresses were beautiful, sure, but the day had taken a lot out of me, and I just wanted to put everything away and get some rest.

But as I turned the corner to my room, I was suddenly yanked into a guest room. I let out a surprised yelp, my heart racing as I tried to catch my balance. Before I knew it, I was pinned against the wall, and the familiar scent of cologne hit my nose.

Ryder. Of course.

He leaned in close, his voice low and almost teasing. "How was the shopping, Aubrey?"
