Chapter 63 Stuck together on a rainy night

Aubrey’s pov ;

Since Sophia took my car, he offered to drive me back.

The drive home was quiet, and for once, it wasn’t an uncomfortable silence with him near me. Maybe it was the fact that dinner went smoothly, or maybe—though I hated to admit it—I was still a little moved by Ryder stepping in today.

Sure, he was probably planning something, but that didn’t stop me from feeling a twinge of gratitude.

I glanced at the window, wishing I could open it, but it was pouring rain outside. The kind that would drench you in seconds. I sighed and leaned back into the seat.

Suddenly, the car tugged, jerking me out of my thoughts. I frowned, turning to look at Ryder, but before I could ask what was happening, the car jerked again.

“What the hell are you doing?!” I asked, my voice sharp with suspicion.

He grunted, trying to start the car again. “I’m not doing anything. The car’s not starting.”

I blinked at him in disbelief. “What do you mean it’s not starting?”
