Chapter 78 I've got you

Ryder’s pov ;

I grabbed my phone and dialed Sophia, my fingers trembling slightly as I waited for her to pick up. The longer the phone rang, the tighter the knot in my stomach grew. It wasn’t like Aubrey to be out this late without saying something.

“Sophia?” I asked the moment she answered, not bothering with pleasantries. “Where is Aubrey? Is she with you?”

There was a brief pause on the other end, and I could hear her shifting around, maybe getting out of bed. “No, Isn’t she home?”

“She hasn’t come back yet,” I muttered, trying to keep my voice steady, but the worry was starting to crawl under my skin, making it harder to think straight. “It’s 3 a.m., Sophia. She’s not answering her phone. Where could she be?”

Another pause. I could hear the hesitation in her breathing, and that made my pulse quicken.

“She went to meet Gregory this afternoon,” Sophia said slowly, as if she was treading carefully with her words. “After that, she said she was planning to go home.”
