Nicholas had practically turned the whole city upside down to find Emily. Once he got the recent information, he rushed here.
He'd been reluctant to take the gossip that his wife was sleeping over at the private residence of Oliver Riyad, the popular actor and model, but glanced at the familiar shoes in the foyer, he knew she was indeed there.
He couldn't control his fury anymore. How dare Emily cheat on him? Was that why she suddenly filed for divorce?
"Get my wife to come out! I know she's in there!" Nicholas shouted trying to get into the house.
"Excuse me, Mr. Sinclair," Oliver blocked his way. "Your wife? Who is that? I do have a friend here but she said she has no husband now."
Nicholas's jaw clenched. He felt insulted. His marriage with Emily was a secret to the public from the start. The public neither knew her image nor her name. He now felt like he had lifted a rock and stoned himself.
"Emily Sinclair," Nicholas gritted and roared. "I know she's inside. Let her out. I'm her husband!"
"What are you doing here?" Emily appeared behind Oliver in confusion. How had Nicholas found her, and why was he here?
Nicholas's gaze locked onto her and his expression grew even more furious. The sight of them both looking as if they had just showered caused his chest to tighten. Had they had sex?
"I've come to take you home," he declared, pushing past Oliver without hesitation.
Emily sneered at his words. "Home?" she echoed mockingly. "Didn't you see the divorce papers? I've already signed them. Please sign them and end this," she stated coldly.
Nicholas's expression darkened. "Emily, I'm not agreeing to a divorce," he said, stepping closer to her.
Oliver immediately reacted, placing himself protectively in front of Emily. "Mr. Sinclair, you can't force her," he asserted.
"This is between us. If you don't want any trouble with your career, stay away from her," Nicholas warned, shoving Oliver aside and grabbing Emily's wrist.
"Emily is more important to me than my career, Mr. Sinclair, and I don't think you can do anything to intimidate me. Please, leave her," Oliver said, gripping Emily's other hand and facing Nicholas without fear.
No one had ever stood up to Nicholas like this, especially not for Emily. His anger flared. Trying to be a hero in front of him, huh? Then he would show him what he could do.
"If I remember right, Riyad, you have a new movie shooting recently," Nicholas sneered as he reached for his phone to make a call. "Maybe I should call my friends to divest the investment?"
Oliver tensed his jaw but still didn't want to back down. Nicholas' influence was well-known but he couldn't watch him taking Emily away so rudely. "Mr. Sinclair—"
"Nicholas, don't drag others into our problems," Emily cut off before Oliver could say more to provoke Nicholas. She reassured Oliver with a smile, "No worries, I can handle this."
The soft look she gave Oliver fueled Nicholas' anger again. He grabbed Emily's arm and pulled her into his car. Before Emily could react, he had locked the car door and started the engine.
"What are you doing, Nicholas?" she yelled. "If you want a talk, we can just talk there."
"You think I'll leave you there?" Nicholas spat. "I just left for a few days and you're already with another man? How desperate are you?"
"Nicholas, haven't you heard me?" Emily was exasperated. "I've signed the divorce paper and we're both free now."
"And I said I don't agree to the divorce!" Nicholas roared as he suddenly hit the brakes, causing Emily to lurch forward and hit her forehead against the dashboard. She cried out in pain, but before she could react, Nicholas grabbed her face with a strong hand. His burning eyes locked onto hers.
"Stop dreaming about divorce! You are mine, Emily. Don't even think about being with another man!"
Emily was about to respond in anger, but Nicholas silenced her with a forceful kiss. She froze, her eyes widening in shock. He unbuckled his seat belt and rolled over to straddle her, without stopping this kiss.
He sucked on her tongue and licked her lips, making her body stiffen. Emily tried to push him away, hitting him, but her struggle only fueled his desire to dominant. He liked her obedient, not defiant.
With his body pressed against hers in the cramped space, Emily could feel the sexy desire between his legs. It had been a while since they'd had sex, and she had to admit she kind of missed it. The man was a sex god in bed. Lost in the memory, for a moment she forgot to resist but reacted to his kiss, causing a small chuckle from Nicholas. He knew he had won once again.
His kisses became more fierce, starting from her chin and down to her neck, her collarbone, her breasts...every kiss excited her to shiver. Emily couldn't help but grip his shoulder as her legs rubbed anxiously. Nicholas didn't miss it. He was familiar with every sign of her desire.
“Nicholas-” Emily couldn't help but moan out when his fingers thrust inside her. Her wet, warm insides wrapped around his fingers, delighting him.
“Yes, moan out my name,” he muttered between their kisses. "The only name you can moan."
Their kiss deepened when Nicholas sped up his thrusts. At that moment, Emily felt loved. Maybe, she was wrong. Maybe, there was still hope for their marriage.
But the illusion shattered quickly.
Nicholas stopped when his phone vibrated with a message. He pulled away slightly to check it and then his face turned bad. Emily slowly opened her eyes and glanced at the screen.
"Nic, where are you? Everyone left but I'm still waiting for you. It's dark here, I'm scared. Please come fast."
Emily didn't have to guess to know it was from Maria. She didn't speak but just looked at Nicholas, waiting for his choice.
"I have to go now," he finally uttered. "Maria-"
"Enough." Emily cut off his words coldly. She pushed him away and straightened her clothes. Every time when it came to her and Maria, he would always choose Maria first. She should have learned that already but was being foolish again. She was more angry with herself now.
"Emily, she's also your sister. It's dark outside, not safe for her to stay alone." Nicholas stopped her attempt to leave the car, trying to explain.
"Do whatever you want," she sneered. "I just want a divorce." With that, she pushed the door open.
Nicholas grabbed her hand, anger flashing in his eyes. "I do not agree to a divorce, Emily. Never will. Don't make me say it again."
Emily didn’t want to waste any more time. She shook his hand away and walked out of the car.
"After you sign the papers, just inform me. We'll meet in court," she said, shutting the door behind her.
Nicholas was about to follow her, but his phone began to ring. "Fuck!" He cursed as he picked up the phone.
“Nic, are you arriving soon? I feel some guy stalking me. Please come fast.” Maria wept on the other end.
Nicholas gritted, feeling irritable watching Emily's receding figure through the rearview mirror and hearing Emily's pitiful weep.
He was annoyed about Emily's sudden stubbornness. He couldn't understand why she was so desperate for a divorce now, after three years of never mentioning it. But he couldn't leave Maria in danger either-she was there because of his appointment.
With a frustrated sigh, he started the engine to get Maria first. He would deal with Emily later.
