Evan looked up, his gaze meeting Emily’s. There was a momentary pause as he took in her appearance, clearly not who he expected.
"Ms. Lily?" he asked with a pleasant, albeit puzzled, smile.
Emily nodded and sat across from him. "I won’t take much of your time. I just came to apologize in person. I’m not looking to date anyone right now, and this meeting was arranged by my family. I hope you understand. When you speak to them, feel free to say you didn’t like me."
Evan remained quiet for a few moments before shaking his head. "I’m afraid I don’t understand."
Emily blinked, surprised. "I thought I was being pretty clear."
With a calm yet knowing look, Evan replied, "You’re not Lily."
Emily froze for a second before regaining her composure. Of course, he knows. "You're right. Lily had something urgent to attend to, so she asked me to come and let you know personally."
