On the way, Emily had discreetly messaged Aton, advising him to stick to the story she’d given Nicholas, knowing anything else might arouse further suspicion.

Nicholas’s gaze hardened. “And how do I know you two aren’t conspiring to lie to me?”

Emily frowned and said, “If you don’t believe me, let him treat your leg for the next month. You’ll see the truth for yourself.”

Nicholas paused, a cold edge in his voice as he replied, “Fine. I’ll trust you for now, but if you’re lying…” His eyes flashed a sharp warning.

Emily only smiled, unfazed. “What would I gain by deceiving you? I’m just trying to help you recover so we can finalize the divorce sooner.”

Nicholas’s gaze grew icy. “So, you’re that eager for a divorce?”

She met his gaze steadily. “And you’re not?”

Nicholas didn't respond, but the tension in the room was palpable. Emily, seeing his grim expression, decided not to press further. “If there’s nothing else, I’ll head out. We still need to catch our flight today.”
