Nikon giggled softly from her lap, glancing up at them. "Auntie Lily, you should go. Mommy always says we should face things ourselves."
Lily gasped, clutching her chest dramatically. "Et tu, Nikon, Betrayed by my own team!"
Emily chuckled, shaking her head as Nikon grinned, clearly amused by their banter.
"Darling, please. You are my only hope," Lily said, clasping her hands together as if in prayer, her eyes wide and pleading.
Emily arched an eyebrow, her lips twitching in an attempt to hide a smile. "Flattery isn’t going to work on me, Lily," she said, her tone firm. "I already said no, and I’m not changing my mind."
Lily groaned dramatically, throwing herself back against the sofa. "You’re so cruel, Emily! Do you know how awful blind dates are? What if it’s an old man who chews with his mouth open? Or worse—a guy who talks about his stamp collection for hours?"
