Chapter 164

Emily let out a short, bitter laugh. “Mr. Gereohart, if you came here just to lie to my face, don’t bother.”

Her eyes flashed with anger. “I don’t know the extent of your connection to Dragon, and honestly, I don’t care to find out. But if he sent you here to warn me, then deliver a message—tell him we’ll meet soon. And he better be ready to face me, because he dared to hurt my son.”

Matteo sighed, his expression shifting from amusement to something more serious. “I know,” he said, his voice softer. “I came here because I heard what happened to your son. And I also heard you’ve been looking into my background.”

Emily’s jaw tightened, but she remained silent, waiting for him to continue.

“That night when I found you,” Matteo went on, “I was indeed there to see Dragon. And yes, I do have connections with him—but not in the way you think. I’m not involved in their operations. I’m a businessman, Emily. That’s all I do. I don’t get involved in anything beyond that.”
