The drive back to her house, surprisingly so, was shorter than she had anticipated.
As Ezekiel pulled into the familiar streets of her residence, Ivory recalled that she had to reach out to Lucien.
After thanking Ezekiel and stepping out of the car, she pulled out her phone and called Lucien.
As usual, the phone only rang for a few seconds, before it was answered.
“Lucien, hey,” She called out. “Are you still at the hospital?”
The other end of the line was silent for a little while, but when a response came, Ivory frowned.
“No, I’m not.” His voice sounded…close.
She looked up and was surprised to see him sitting on the stairs of her porch.
“Oh God,” she muttered in fright, before chuckling. “You startled me.”
As she ended the call and pocketed her device, she approached him.
