At Lannister Estate

Edgar hung up the phone and quickly shot up from the chair in his study, where he had been handling some business.

"Dennis, quickly prepare my car," he ordered his butler.

The butler looked up from the papers he was arranging.

"Sir, it's midnight. Is something wrong?"

Edgar furrowed his brows. "Quickly do as I say. I'll explain later."

The butler nodded and stood up. "Understood, sir." He bowed slightly and left.

Edgar followed him out.

Fifteen minutes later, he arrived at the hospital. He then remembered he hadn't asked which room Ivy was in, so he called again.

"Ivy!" he called out, barging into the room without knocking.

Ivy and Serena both looked toward the door. Ziudith wasn't there—she had gone for an emergency surgery.

"Dad?" Ivy sat up in her seat.

Edgar rushed toward her, grabbing her shoulders and inspecting her in a panic.

"Ivy, are you all right?" he asked, worried.

"I'm alright, Dad, don't worry. Nothing happened to me, but Mom got some burns on her hands."

Edgar turned to Serena and noticed her bandaged hands.

"Serena, does it hurt much? Did you take the medic—"

"Relax, Edgar. I'm fine. Thanks to our daughter, we got out quickly. It's just a small burn," Serena assured him.

Edgar clenched his teeth. "Alright, but how was there a fire in your house? Do either of you have any idea?"

Ivy and Serena exchanged glances.

Then Ivy turned to Edgar. "Dad, I just talked to one of my colleagues to check the CCTV cameras around our house. We saw a man wearing a mask and a cap sneaking in and leaving after five minutes. Soon after, the fire erupted. I think he's the one who started it."

Edgar's expression darkened. "Who was it? Did you see his face?"

Ivy shook her head. "We couldn't get a clear shot of his face, but I think I have an idea whose man it could be."

"WHO? Tell me, quickly! How dare he try to hurt you both!" Edgar roared.

Ivy pressed her lips together before finally saying, "I think it's that Nick Han guy—the heir of Han Group."

Edgar narrowed his eyes. "What? But why?"

Ivy pinched the bridge of her nose, unsure how to explain.

This time, Serena spoke. "Edgar, that Nick guy was stalking Ivy's friend, so she beat him up. Now he's trying to get revenge."

Edgar's frown deepened.

"Dad, don't worry. I'll take ca—"

"No. I'll teach that bastard a lesson myself. How dare he try to hurt my family," Edgar cut her off angrily.

Ivy rubbed her temples. How did things come to this? She didn't want her dad to get involved.

"But Dad—"

"Ivy," Serena said gently, taking Ivy's hand, "Let's not drag this out. Let your father handle it. Today, that Nick guy tried to burn down our house. We were lucky to walk out, but what if he tries something worse next time? Rich people like him don't have any morals, Ivy."

Ivy pursed her lips and finally nodded. "Alright. But Dad, please don't do anything rash."

Edgar narrowed his eyes. "Stupid girl. Do you think I act rashly? Don't worry, I won't let that boy get near you again."

Then Edgar remembered something. "Is your house burned down?"

Ivy and Serena nodded.

"It's mostly destroyed, Dad. I think it'll take time to fix it."

Edgar looked at them seriously. "Then you need another place to stay, right?"

"Of course, Dad. But don't worry, we'll rent an apartment for the time being."

Edgar frowned. "Why would you rent an apartment when I'm here? And didn't you just get attacked? Do you think I'll let you live on your own when something like this might happen again? No. Both of you will stay at the Lannister Estate until the house is fixed."

Ivy sighed. She knew this was coming. In that house, she and her parents had created so many memories. She grew up there. That's why she didn't want to sell it or buy a new one—it would be a waste since they planned to return eventually. And now her father definitely wouldn't let them stay anywhere else after what happened.

"But Dad, your family—they won't like us staying there. They already don't like us."

"Don't worry about them. I'm sure they'll understand." He then turned to Serena.

"Serena, please stay at my place for now—at least until things settle down. Otherwise, I'll always feel uneasy and worried about you both. Please," he pleaded.

Serena saw the worry in his eyes. She knew how much he cared for Ivy and that he wouldn't let them stay anywhere else.

She turned to Ivy, and Ivy looked back at her.

"Ivy, let's just stay at his place for now. We'll see what to do next."

Ivy sighed again and turned to her father.

"Alright, Dad," she finally agreed.

Edgar smiled and hugged his daughter tightly.

"Good. Now it's getting late. Let's go."

All three arrived at the huge manor. Edgar told his butler to prepare two rooms for them on the top floor, and soon, Serena and Ivy were shown to their rooms.
