After a brief contemplation, I led him to my office.

Nolan kept examining the office setup.

The regret in his eyes grew more and more intense.

He covered his face, quietly beginning to sob.

"Do you know why I came to work as an orderly at this hospital?"

"Because I always think of your mom. I was the one taking care of Auntie during her final days. I can't forget the image of her lying alone in that bed."

"So all these years, I've been burning money for her every year. In my spare time, I work as a caregiver in nursing homes. It's my way of showing filial piety and making up for past regrets."

I turned my head away, saying through gritted teeth,

"How dare you mention her? Have you forgotten that you were the one who caused her death? It's also because of you that I didn't even get to see Mom one last time!"
