Confession

*****FLASHBACK*****

After Leon and Selene's mini confrontation, Leon went to his room while Selene sat at the sitting.

Her thoughts went back to the night she spent with Lewie. Would she want to pretend like nothing happened? Can her heart also pretend with her? Why does she feel that way for Lewie? Maybe she was just a fling, does Lewie feel anything for her? All this and more are running through her mind.

Having decided to listen to her heart, she walked around the room trying to build her confidence on how to confront Lewie when he came back.

While practicing how to confess her growing love for Lewie, she made a deal with the wall clock never to take her eyes off it.

Suddenly, the door was opened, and there stood Lewie in his suit, looking stressed out. His shirt was half unbuttoned, and his tie was.

"Why are you still awake??" He asked as he looked at his watch and took a step forward.

"Nothing!!! I just wanted to….." the remaining words went back to her stomach, making her unable to say what she had been practicing for the past 3 hours plus.

Lewie stepped closer. " Selene?? What's wrong?" he asked immediately he noticed the uneased look on her face.

"Nothing," she shook her head while forcing a tight smile. "You just look tired."

He sighed and rubbed his hands at the back of his neck, "I had a long day."

Silence fell between them; they wanted to say something to each other, but the silence made the atmosphere heavy.

Lewie walked to the mini bar and poured himself a glass of water. "You didn't go to bed?" he asked and took a long sip.

"No," she whispered. "I was waiting..."

He turned slowly to face her. "For me?"

She nodded slightly, her fingers playing with the tip of her dress nervously.

"I wanted to talk to you, but I... I don't know how to say it."

His gaze softened. "You can tell me anything, as long as you are comfortable telling me."

Selene took a deep breath, her heartbeat changing rhyme.

"I…. I can't stop thinking about that night. About you." She paused, searching his eyes, looking for something. "And it scares me."

Lewie took a step toward her, but she backed away slightly.

"I don't know what it meant to you, Lewie. I don't want to be just… someone to pass the time with. A distraction." Her voice trembled. "I'm scared that I have fallen for you, and you might not catch me"

Lewie's expression softened, his tired eyes locking onto hers like he was seeing her for the first time all over again.

"Selene…" he said, stepping closer, slowly, like he didn't want to scare her off. "You think I could ever use you?"

She didn't respond, her silence spoke more than words ever could. Her shoulders tensed, ready for rejection.

"I haven't been able to get you out of my head ever since that night," he confessed. "I've tried to act normal, but every time I look at you, it hits me all over again. that I care about you, Selene. Way more than I should."

Selene looked at him, emotions crashing into her chest. Her breathing hitched as she took a small step forward.

"I don't want to pretend anymore," she whispered.

That was all it took.

Lewie pulled her into his arms, wrapping her tightly against his chest. She melted into him, feeling the tension in her body ease for the first time in days.

********FLASHBACK ENDS*******

Lewie woke up in the morning; he decided to make some breakfast in bed for Selene. While making the breakfast, someone stood at the back of the door staring at him.

Leon had dragged his feet to the kitchen to grab some water when he noticed Lewie's presence in the kitchen.

His eyes filled with anger and venom.

Why does it always have to be Lewie??

This question hasn't stopped since last night.

From the first day, he set his eyes on her. He had developed feelings for Selene, but he was afraid of rejection, not just rejection. Ra. Rather, he was afraid of her choosing Lewie over him.

Since childhood, Lewie had always been the golden child, his needs and wants are always prioritized over his.

"She was supposed to be mine," he whispered to the silence, as sinister thoughts filled his head while he grabbed a knife.

He tilted his head, as he watched his reflection with a strange smile.

"He always takes everything, What if I take something back?"

A darker voice inside him, persuasive and loud. A thought that has been hidden for years.

"It wouldn't take much. A stab, A stab on his vital organs."

He ran a hand through his hair, disheveled and wild now.

"If I can't have her, then he shouldn't"

Lewie was done making Soy milk and fried pepperish chicken, which is also Selene's favorite.

Just as he was done plating it, he received a call

"Mr Lewie, the meeting with Empire Group of company, is today," the voice from the other side of the call said

"Today, I thought it was tomorrow?" He asked while making sure the food was perfect.

"I sent an email last week informing you that it was rescheduled today, and we are One hour late for the meeting."

He checked his watch. "Okay!!, I will be there in the next thirty minutes," he said and ended the call.

While heading out for the meeting, he didn't forget to slip a message card to the food tray.

Leon watched him walking out of the kitchen; he picked the tray up, dropped it again, and tidied his disheveled look.

For the past 10 minutes, he stood knocking at Selene's door but got no response.

Without waiting for the spare key, he broke into the room.

There was Selene on the floor; away was the beautiful and full of energy girl he knew; on the floor lay Selene, looking pale and lifeless.
