As we walked away, I couldn’t help but glance back at Katarina. She just shook her head, her palm on her face as she smirked reluctantly. She sighed, watching us leave. I could see the curiosity and amusement in her eyes. She, along with the rest of the pack, was probably trying to reconcile the stern, imposing Alpha with the man who couldn’t seem to bear being apart from his mate.
The walk back to the Alpha's quarters was silent but surprisingly comfortable. His hand never left my lower back, guiding me firmly but gently. I couldn’t help but think about how possessive he had become since our bond had deepened. It was a stark contrast to the aloof leader he presented to the rest of the pack.
