Chapter 6: The Fire That Waits

The sun was barely up, casting an orange glow across the lava fields. Kai stood shirtless at the edge of a smoldering crater, sweat steaming off his back.

Ignarax: "Stop there."

Kai (exhaling sharply): "Huh? I was just getting warmed up."

Ignarax (walking up): "You've done enough. Your training… it's mostly complete."

Kai (blinking): "That's it? That's all you've got left to teach me?"

Ignarax (chuckles): "You think I've been hiding a list of fancy tricks? Dragons don't learn that way, kid."

Kai (half-grinning): "Really? I figured you had some ultimate 'Magma Annihilation Combo' or something tucked away."

Ignarax: "You've already learned more than most. Roar, claw, stomp, wing, tail—those are our core. The basics. We teach young dragons how to fight with their body first. That's it."

Kai (raising an eyebrow): "No crazy beam attacks? No secret magma lasers?"

Ignarax: "Only fools waste time trying to copy someone else's fire. Every dragon builds their own style from there. The rest—the real strength—comes from creating your own techniques."

Kai (pausing): "So that Execution Fang move… you made that?"

Ignarax (nods slowly): "Forged it during a war. It's mine. Just like how Igneel dances with his fire, or how Metalicana shaped iron. You've got the insight now. You'll figure out your own path."

Kai looked down at his hands, flexing his fingers.

Kai: "Then I guess it's time I start making some of my own…"

[Later – Lava Pool Training]

Ignarax (watching): "What was that?"

Kai (grinning): "Something new. Called it Crater Step. I melt the ground around me—turn it into lava real quick, mess up anyone close."

Ignarax (nods once): "Efficient. Dirty. I like it."

Kai: "Got another one too—Eruption Coil. Magma winds around my arms, then pops when I punch. Like setting up a trap on my own fists."

Ignarax: "Now you're starting to think like a dragon."

[Evening – Sitting Beside the Fire Pit]

Kai (tossing a pebble into the lava): "So… what's next?"

Ignarax (quietly): "You'll be leaving soon."

Kai (turning to look at him): "Huh?"

Ignarax: "You'll meet a human. A woman named Anna. She's… important. An ally. She's going to teach you what we couldn't."

Kai: "Teach me what?"

Ignarax: "How to live as a human. Speech, writing, the way they interact. The stuff dragons don't bother with."

Kai (slowly): "Wait… am I the only one?"

Ignarax: "No. There are others. Dragon Slayers. Raised by different dragons. You'll meet them there."

[Pause – The Wind Shifts]

Kai: "So what's the plan? Some training camp for slayers?"

Ignarax: "Not exactly. You're all being sent four hundred years into the future."

Kai (stunned): "...what?"

Ignarax (calmly): "The current age lacks enough ethernano. Too weak to face what's coming. But the future… the magic will be denser. Stronger. It's the only shot we've got at stopping Acnologia."

Kai: "...That's insane."

Ignarax (shrugs): "So was raising humans to kill dragons. Yet here we are."

[A Moment of Silence]

Kai: "What about you? What happens to you after this?"

Ignarax (chuckles): "Igneel has a plan for us. We're not staying behind. We're going with you."

Kai: "Going with us?"

Ignarax: "Inside you."

Kai (blinks): "...Come again?"

Ignarax: "There's a sealing technique. Old and dangerous. We'll reside inside the bodies of the Slayers. Dormant. Hidden."

Kai (processing): "So you'll be… what? Sleeping in me?"

Ignarax (smirking): "More or less. Igneel wants to keep it secret from the others. But you? You've got that eye. The second you land in the future, you'll know. So I figured I'd save you the confusion."

Kai (quietly): "And you want me to keep it secret."

Ignarax (firmly): "Yes. Let the others think they're on their own. It's cleaner that way."

Kai: "Alright. I won't say a word."

[Final Scene – The Cliffside]

They both stood at the edge, wind brushing past. In the distance, the skies shimmered—faint echoes of magic at work.

Ignarax: "You've got a lot ahead of you."

Kai (looking out): "Yeah. I know."

Ignarax (after a pause): "Whatever happens… trust yourself."

Kai: "I will."

A ground-shattering stomp that causes minor tremors and creates brief magma eruptions beneath enemies. Crater Step (New)

By rapidly melting the ground under his feet, Kai creates unstable magma terrain around him. Enemies lose footing, and Kai uses the heat for burst mobility or sudden lava strikes. Eruption Coil (New)

Lava wraps around Kai's arms like coiled serpents. On impact, it explodes outward, dealing burst fire/magma damage and launching opponents away.
