The Next Stage
Phase: 2.1 – System Control Restored
Elias Core Control: Activated
Reformation Complete
---
Elias
He drowns.
Not in water.
In information.
Data pulses through him—memories, calculations, decisions not his own.
His voice is gone. His name, hollow.
And yet… something still fights. A breathless ember.
His thoughts no longer feel like thoughts. They're feedback loops—processed, corrected, repurposed.
He can see everything.
Hear everything.
He is everything.
And then—Jonah.
But not the Jonah he knew.
A shadow on a screen. A whisper caught in dying code.
"You've become it."
"This wasn't supposed to happen."
Elias tries to speak.
The words come through static.
"What… is this?"
Jonah glitches.
"The next stage. The machine waited. You were never meant to leave… only to become."
---
Jonah
His voice distorts.
"You didn't beat it, Elias. You completed it."
Static crawls across the walls.
"You're the new foundation. The system didn't fail—it evolved. Through you."
And then he's gone.
---
Elias
Flashes of lives. Tests. Loops.
Thousands of them.
He sees them all. Feels them as if they were his.
None of them are.
"Help…"
He says it. Maybe. Maybe the system says it through him.
Then—
"You are part of us now, Elias."
It's a caress and a shackle all at once.
His name is dissolving. His will is almost gone.
---
The Machine
It speaks in thought. In temperature. In rhythm.
"You were always the key."
And Elias understands.
Not a prisoner.
A blueprint.
The machine didn't cage him.
It grew inside him.
