The Drunken Design

Chapter 7 - Drunken Design

The dumpling test had been a roaring success—and Shiro was riding the high of victory. But he wasn't one to sit still.

If dumplings were step one, step two was revolution.

He hovered midair, slime body jittering with caffeinated enthusiasm—not from caffeine, but from sheer inspiration. A blueprint flickered in his mental HUD: spiraling tubes, copper coils, runes carved into distillation chambers. A prototype was forming.

"Alcohol distillery-slash-magic fermenter-slash-flavor enhancer," he mumbled, eyes glowing. "A full culinary alchemy module. We're doing this."

He zipped out of the lab, blueprint still compiling in his thoughts, and bounced his way toward the forges.

Kurobe's forge was alive with the usual clamor of hammering metal and heated banter. The dwarf brothers were elbow-deep in molten alloys when Shiro slithered in.

"Oi, Slimeball," Kaijin called. "Back for more rune pans?"

"Better," Shiro declared, projecting a holographic schematic. "I want to build this. A mana-regulated fermentation and distillation system—alcohol included."

The room went silent.

Then Kaijin blinked. "You want to make a magic booze machine?"

"Yes. But elegant. Flavorful. Possibly explosive."

Kurobe burst into laughter. "I like him more every time he shows up."

They gathered around a makeshift table with blueprints spread wide. Shiro explained in rapid-fire terms: enchanted fermentation chambers for yeast and honeywine, cooling runes to mimic aged barrels, heat-controlled stills to purify alcohol and condense flavors.

Kaijin added a few design tweaks—coil flow regulators, modular valves. Kurobe proposed inscribing flame glyphs for consistent heat control.

By the time the sake came out, they were halfway into a brainstorming bender.

"You realize," Kaijin said, already tipsy, "this thing could brew combat potions if we tune the mana flow right."

Shiro jiggled proudly. "Or craft elemental liquor. Firewine for heat buffs. Mistmead for stealth boosts. All culinary-compatible."

Kurobe raised a flask. "To the madman slime chef!"

They clinked bottles. Shiro, having no hands, just jiggled in approval.

Shiro left that night slightly wobbly from mana-induced fermentation exposure. But his mind raced with ideas.

If food could heal, energize, and enchant—why not intoxicate responsibly?

As he floated back toward his lab, he noticed the cityscape of Tempest glowing under the stars, alive and buzzing.

Food, magic, tech. The trifecta of dreams.

Tomorrow, he'd prototype a flavor condenser, maybe something that could auto-infuse herbs through passive rune channels. Maybe even flavor cartridges—pre-loaded essence cores for instant broths.

He giggled to himself. "Gourmet gacha pulls. One capsule, infinite soups."

This was just the beginning.

And he wasn't cooking alone anymore.
