8: Cornered

Rue

 "Also, you'll have to select a rank you'll fall into." Vlad continued and i became more confused.

"Each students are to select a rank they'll be grouped in. between the five kings."

"What? Why?" I muttered and Vlad sighed.

"How did you even select this school if you don't know anything about it? Most people who come to this school already have a ranking they want to fall under." He explained and I remained silent till he continued.

"Each student needs to under one of the five kings, that way they can accompany their king on fights, raids, and missions. I mean, that's the whole point of the school anyway, because that's how we'd grow stronger and stronger."

I stiffened even more, eyes widening.

"What? Fights? Raids? Why?!"

Vlad rolled his eyes. "To get stronger, duh. And most times when we're spooked by a rival school, we'd obviously have to retialate." He explained while my head spinned.

Worry and panic churned through the pits of my stomach. This wasn't what I signed up for. I joined this school thinking I'd be able to keep a very low profile and be able to blend in. I didn't sign up for fighting and the rest. I didn't even know how to fight!

"Can I stay without joining any group?" I asked and Vlad shook his head.

"Of course not. That's like a death sentence."

The panic within me heightened and I realized that I needed to call my brother as soon as I could to get me out of here!

"But the school didn't mention anything like this in the syllabus?" I muttered and Vlad laughed.

"Of course they wouldn't, surely you didn't expect them to! They're all aware of all that goes on in the school but have to act oblivious. That's another unspoken rule." He explained and I shuddered once again, feeling creeped out.

What kind of school is this?

"So, which group will you join? You have to register under one today since this is your first day!"

I shrugged a little as I got to my feet, the pain finally dulling away.

"Which group goes on the least fights and raids?" I asked.

"The iron group which is ran by The Elf king. Please don't tell me you're joining this group, it's not as cool as the others." He whined and I asked which group he was in.

"In the diamond group, ran by the dragon king who's the second strongest king in the school." He paused. "I honestly want to join the golden group instead, like so many want to because it's the coolest and strongest group in the school. But sadly, you have to be strong to an extent before you can be allowed in that group." He sounded almost regretful and I huff.

"Join the same group I'm in. It's the second coolest and strongest group in the school." He suggested and I shook my head.

"I'll join the iron group." I muttered and he gave me a very unimpressed look.

"That's such a loser behavior, Reo." He sighed but I ignored him. I was only joining this group because it's the weakest, which means we'll barely have to fight. And from the looks of things, I'll get taken out of this school before it even gets to that.

 Vlad saw me off to where I'd register into the group I've selected, then he left to do something. Apparently, after registering, I'll receive a different uniform, which we'd have to wear each Friday, and a badge representing our group. That's the badge we'd wear when going on fights and raids. I shuddered at that point because I had thought this was a boarding school and students weren't supposed to be able to leave.

As I got registered, a guy peeked into the form I was filling.

"Aw, iron group?" He drawled and on glancing up at him, the first thing I noticed was his average height, and that instantly made me feel better about being this short. I nodded awkwardly, grateful that he wasn't attacking me for no reason. He grinned and waved his form.

"I'm joining the Golden group!" He gushed out and I was genuinely taking aback because he had a slim build and I didn't expect that he'd be strong enough to join this group. He also smelt like… a werewolf, like alpha- which was shocking because he had an omega build.

"That's so cool." I managed to mumble and he grinned again before turning his form in and recording his thumb prints.

"I'm Ezra, you?"

"I'm Reo." I offered and he hummed before draping an arm over my shoulder, making me instantly stiffen and push my chest inward so his hand doesn't come in contact with my chest. Even though the binder was there, I didn't want to take any chances.

"Reo, why don't you and I become friends?"

 In my bedroom that night, I declined Vlad offer to come out to smoke with him.

"Well, I guess it's good if you go to sleep early tonight, seeing as tomorrow, you'll experience your first raid. That's the day every group go on raids. Tell me, are you excited?"

I shook my head vehemently. "I'm not!"

After he left to spoke and mess around, I quickly began to call my brother. I wanted to ask him to come get me out of here fast because the school was the completely opposite of what we expected. However, his number was unreachable.

I was beyond frustrated when I showered and prepared for bed tonight. The day was so busy for me fhat I didn't even remember to stock the fridge up with my own things. Vlad was kind enough to still let me eat his food and I promised to use the limitless card Landon gave me to stock the fridge up tomorrow.

After preparing for bed, I locked my door and retired to bed. It didn't take a second for me to be out faster than a light.

~~~
 I didn't know how long I slept. But the sound of glass breaking had me screaming before I jolted awake. As I hurriedly sat up, panic wrenched my chest hard as soon as I sighted the window of my bedroom at the other side of the room. The glass was completely shattered, and a figure was perched on the window silt, a coat billowing behind the figure, and eyes glowing red in the darkness.
I stumbled off the bed and flicked the lights on, and a scream tore past my throat when the figure moved from the window as fast as lightning to press me against the wall.
I screamed harder while struggling, but I stiffened almost immediately as a familiar scent hit me nose and filled up my lungs. Sandalwood and pine, and with my back rigid and my heart pounding away, I tentatively glanced up.
As soon as I saw the silver mask over the left part of the person's face, and thick silver hair in a bun, a gasp caught in my throat while my knees instantly wobbled.
This is…
This is the golden king!
Right here in my bedroom!
Oh. My. God.
I was still trying to wrap my head over what was currently happening when the alpha leaned down to speak into my ear.
"So… you're a girl…?"
As those words sank into my head, my eyes widened and I gasped again, as realization quickly hit me on glancing down at myself. I wasn't in disguise right now, my binder was off and my contact lenses weren't present. The top I wore to sleep was thin and the outline of my breasts was more than obvious in it.
I gasped again as I glanced up at the golden king.
Oh god.
My secret has just been discovered by the golden king himself!
