Chapter 21: Spider Ability Mishap
Under Gwen's repeated insistence, Yang Le reluctantly agreed to her request to help in the Kitchen.
However, it was a very simple Cuisine, not requiring many steps. Basically, Yang Le was handling everything, and Gwen was just handing over the Seasoning from the side.
"Okay, next we just need to wait," Yang Le said, placing the Pot Lid on the pot and pressing the Timer in the Kitchen.
"Can Staple Food be Bread?" Yang Le asked, taking out a Brown Paper Bag from another Shopping Bag, which contained Bread bought from the Bakery.
Gwen gave an OK gesture, then took out a Basket from the Cupboard, preparing to put the Bread into it.
Seeing this, Yang Le handed over the task of putting Bread into the Basket to her, while he took out four sets of Utensils from the Cupboard to prepare to set the table.
When Yang Le turned back, he found that Gwen was holding a Bread in her right hand and shaking it non-stop, but there was no Bread in the Basket in front of her.
"Habby, help me," Gwen asked Yang Le for help. "This Bread seems to be stuck to my hand."
Yang Le understood that this was Gwen's Spider-Man Ability starting to gradually manifest. First, it was Spider Physique, and now it was Adhesion Ability.
"OK, relax, I'll help you," Yang Le said, reaching out to signal Gwen not to move, then walked over to help her remove the Bread from her hand.
"Is there Glue on this Bread?" Gwen complained as she stretched her right hand out to Yang Le.
"Of course there's no Glue on this Bread. Do you think it's possible that the problem is with your hand?" Yang Le forcefully pulled and tore the Bread off, but a layer of Bread still remained on Gwen's hand.
"What could be wrong with my hand? Would I put Glue on my hand to make things difficult for myself?" Gwen glared at Yang Le and said angrily.
"Gwen, haven't you noticed that you're acting very strangely today?"
"What's wrong? I feel great right now."
What Gwen said was true. Ever since she woke up, she felt like she had inexhaustible strength, her body was lighter, her vision was clearer, and even when she changed Clothes just now, she found that her abs were even more perfect.
"That's exactly why it's strange," Yang Le said, looking helplessly at the Bread stuck to Gwen's hand. He had no choice but to take her to the Sink, preparing to wash off the Bread on her hand with water.
"Just like just now, you accurately caught the Ingredients thrown by Mary Jane, and now your hand is stuck to the Bread. Think carefully, what made you like this?"
Faced with Yang Le's Inquire, Gwen fell silent. In fact, she had also noticed that something was wrong with her. As for the reason, she probably knew it too. The reason she pretended that everything was normal was because she was worried that Yang Le would treat her as an outcast.
"You swear you won't hate me," Gwen said, lowering her head so that Yang Le couldn't see her expression, but from her tone, Yang Le could tell that the girl was very worried now.
"I swear, Gwen, no matter what happens, I could never hate you."
Yang Le bent down and put his hand on Gwen's shoulder, guaranteeing it firmly.
Gwen raised her head and looked into Yang Le's eyes, only seeing the firmness within and her own anxiety reflected there.
She had heard people say more than once that the eyes are the windows to the soul, and you can tell if someone is lying from their eyes. Originally, she hadn't quite believed it, but now she somewhat did.
"I was actually bitten by that Spider..." Gwen said, keeping her gaze fixed on Yang Le's eyes, afraid of seeing even a hint of wavering within them.
"It's that Spider 65B we saw. Maybe when it was escaping, someone bumped into the Display Cabinet causing it to run out, and then I don't know why that Spider ran onto me and bit me."
As Gwen spoke, she stretched out her left hand hidden under her sleeve. Yang Le looked carefully and found that in the area of her thumb and forefinger, there was indeed a small Red Mark, which was very obvious on her fair hand.
"I won't turn into a Monster, will I?" Gwen's voice even had a hint of crying, and a mist appeared in her watery eyes, looking at Yang Le with grievance, making his heart ache.
"It's okay, Gwen," Yang Le said, hugging Gwen into his arms. Although he knew that Gwen Spider wouldn't turn into a Spider Demon, he still couldn't help but comfort Gwen who was in tears.
"Don't worry, I will help you, trust me, okay?"
"Mmm," Gwen mumbled, burying her head in Yang Le's Chest, and then didn't move again. Yang Le just assumed she was calming down her emotions and let her stay buried.
"Uh, Gwen, it's about Time to let go, right?" Yang Le glanced at the Timer and found that half the Time had passed, and couldn't help but remind her.
'No romance,' Gwen rolled her eyes, preparing to leave Yang Le's embrace, but she found that her left hand, which was placed on Yang Le's right Chest due to the posture, couldn't be taken off now.
"What's wrong, Gwen?" Yang Le asked, looking at Gwen who moved and then stopped. He vaguely felt something was wrong in his heart. Sure enough, Gwen's next answer made his heart skip a beat.
"Can't... can't take it down," Gwen said, leaving his embrace. Looking at her left hand stuck to Yang Le's Clothes, she felt a burst of frustration in her heart, preparing to forcibly pull it off.
"It's okay, relax, Gwen," Yang Le quickly interrupted Gwen's rough yanking. If it was torn, not to mention whether there was a replacement, if people outside saw it, they would definitely misunderstand.
"This is one of your Abilities, you have to learn to control it. Now relax and think about taking your hand off my Clothes."
"I was just thinking about it, but it's useless."
"That's because you're not focused enough," Yang Le lowered his voice, trying to make himself sound very gentle. "Relax, just treat it like walking, just your normal physiological function, don't reject it."
Under Yang Le's comfort, Gwen closed her eyes, slowly relaxed, and began to try to move her hand away from Yang Le's Clothes. Gradually, she felt that the Fabric her hand was touching was decreasing, and she was about to succeed.
"Hi! How's Dinner going, you two?"
Mary Jane's voice suddenly sounded. Gwen, who was concentrating on her left hand, was startled, lost control of her Adhesion Ability, and her left hand was firmly sucked onto Yang Le's Clothes again.
Not only that, Gwen, who was afraid of being discovered, wanted to retract her left hand in a hurry. Under the effect of Super Strength and Adhesion Ability, she directly tore off Yang Le's Clothes.
'Oh no, can it get any worse?' Gwen thought depressingly, looking at Yang Le's strong Pectoral Muscles.
"I heard Habby is cooking today, I'm really looking forward to it," The voice coming from outside the Kitchen was very familiar. The person who was usually closest to her now sounded like the death knell from hell to Gwen.
"What's wrong, Mary Jane?" George asked curiously, looking at Mary Jane who was stunned at the Doorway of the Kitchen.
"It can't be that Habby blew up the Kitchen..." George said, looking at the scene in front of him and also falling silent, his face gradually turning terrifyingly dark.
"Actually, I can explain..."
"You get out of here right now!"
George's angry roar interrupted Yang Le's explanation.
