The forest clearing was still, the aftermath of their escape lingering in the air like a forgotten breath. The sky above shimmered oddly, as if reality itself hadn't quite recovered from the rift's silence.
Yuki sat cross-legged on a rock, his arms folded, his eyes closed, void energy flickering calmly around him like smoke. He looked… composed. Balanced. Enlightened, even.
And then—
GGRRRGGGGRRRRRRKK.
A monstrous growl echoed from his stomach.
Ren blinked. Aiko flinched. Himari tilted her head.
Yuki opened one eye, slowly. "...That wasn't a demon. That was me."
Nogitsune leaned against a tree, arms crossed, a smirk already crawling up his face.
"I've just fused reality warping and void manipulation…" Yuki grumbled, clutching his gut like it was trying to escape his body.---
Yuki groaned louder. "This is what suffering looks like."
Nogitsune chuckled softly. "Powerful enough to warp existence… useless when it comes to breakfast."
Nogitsune finally tossed him something—a steaming cup of instant ramen, perfectly sealed, like it had just dropped from the heavens.
Yuki blinked. "Wait—you had ramen this whole time?!"
Nogitsune shrugged with that same smug look. "Of course. I'm not insane."
Yuki clutched it like treasure. "You're a villain. A well-fed, cruel villain."
"I knew this moment would come," Nogitsune replied. "You always talk about power, but you break faster over food than a dimensional barrier."
Yuki slurped a mouthful like it was a divine ritual. "I take back every insult I ever said about you."
Aiko tried to stifle her laugh, failing miserably. "You could've asked if we had snacks…"
"I thought I was the snack," Yuki muttered dramatically, lying back in defeat.
Himari poked his forehead with a stick. "Even gods need lunch, apparently."
Ren, ever serious, finally cracked the ghost of a smile. "This is what balance looks like."
Yuki took a dramatic bite, chewing like he was being reborn. "You're lucky this is amazing."
Haru, from the side, spoke up without looking. "I just ate a rock. Thought it was bread. Why didn't I get one? Where's my ramen?"
"Because," Nogitsune said, "you tried to suplex a mountain out of hunger."
Himari tilted her head. "I could've made you a meal… but I was busy saving the universe."
Ren, barely holding back a laugh, added, "This is the part of the hero's journey they never write about."
Yuki raised the ramen cup in the air, solemn. "To victory, survival… and salty noodles."
Everyone stared at him.
He slurped again. "What? It's poetic."
---
A soft breeze drifted through the mountain trees, rustling leaves under the gentle morning sun. Birds chirped in the distance, and for once, the world didn't feel like it was about to tear itself apart.
Yuki stretched on the porch of a small wooden cabin, his hair messily sticking out in every direction. His tail flicked lazily behind him as he yawned wide.
He had mastered void manipulation. He had bent reality to his will. He had trained in a timeless dimension.
But right now?
"I'd kill for some ramen…" he muttered, clutching his empty stomach dramatically.
From behind the door, Nogitsune's voice chimed in, unmistakably smug. "I told you we should've stocked up, but nooo, someone wanted to train like a warrior monk."
Yuki turned and scowled. "You didn't even train with me."
Nogitsune stepped out, tossing a pair of instant ramen cups toward Yuki. "Because I knew you'd forget to eat, genius." He chuckled, sitting beside him. "God of void and reality, defeated by hunger."
Yuki caught one of the cups mid-air and stared at it like it was divine treasure. "You... are the real hero."
Just beyond them, Ren sat cross-legged under a tree, eyes closed, trying to meditate—only to have his moment of spiritual peace interrupted by the sound of Yuki slurping. Loudly.
"You've trained to silence your heartbeat, yet you can't quiet your mouth when noodles are involved," Ren grumbled, eyes still closed.
Himari giggled softly nearby, seated on a flat rock as she read an old scroll. "It's strange… this peace almost feels unnatural."
Aiko, lying on a blanket and gazing at the sky, smiled. "Yeah… but I think we've earned it."
For the first time in what felt like forever, they were all together, safe. No rift tearing through the sky. No hidden monsters awakening. Just the sound of rustling leaves, chirping birds… and Yuki arguing with Nogitsune about who made the better cup of ramen.
It wouldn't last forever. But for now—it was enough.
