Chapter 9: The Wolf and the Sheep

Chapter 9: The Wolf and the Sheep

Before leaving Aunt's house, I managed to get Aunt's signature. Why did I ask for it? I don't even remember. It was some convoluted reason. Aunt got tired of my roundabout way of speaking and just signed it to get it over with.

When Duyên went to the bathroom to wash her hands, I quickly wrote in my notebook: "Tell me the address of the student who sued the teacher." Aunt obediently read it out loud, allowing me to jot it down.

The next morning, I woke up early to do my makeup. The motto of my dorm room was: "You can't fake IQ, but beauty? That can be faked, and we must fake it enthusiastically." Duyên was the best at makeup and eyeliner in our room, so she often gave us lessons. Today, I told her I had something important to do and asked for her help. She carefully applied my makeup, and when I looked in the mirror, I was stunned—I actually looked pretty. I chuckled:

"A little makeup and I'm much less ugly."

...

I made my way to the house of Trần Bình Minh, Aunt's student and also the "victim" of Aunt's wrongdoing. I heard that this family was not only wealthy but also powerful, so they were determined to ruin Aunt's life. The mansion, the grandest in the Linh Đàm villa area, made me hesitate for a moment. Should I go in or not?

I decided to go in. He's gay, so he won't be interested in me anyway. What was there to be afraid of?

I pressed the doorbell. Honestly, after makeup, fake eyelashes, and a nice dress, I did look a bit attractive. But… what was the point? A gay guy wouldn't be gallant just because a woman is pretty.

While I was lost in thought, someone opened the door, and at the same time, a sleek black BMW sped past. I stared after it in shock.

Was that "Nice Butt"?

No way. Could the gay guy actually be "Nice Butt"? But that didn't make sense—the "victim" was still a university student.

While I was distracted, the housekeeper was staring at me:

"Excuse me. Who are you looking for?"

Oh dear. She called me "Miss." That made me feel like I had aged 20 years instantly. The housekeeper seemed well-educated, elegant, and around 35 years old.

I pulled out my student ID and spoke softly:

"Sis, I'm a friend of Minh's. I came to see him for something."

She scanned me from head to toe before finally inviting me in:

"Up until now, Minh's visitors have only been male. You're the first female guest. That's unusual."

She left me in the living room and used the landline to call the "victim" downstairs. I sipped my tea and waited.

After 20 minutes, someone finally came down.

I was momentarily stunned by his beauty.

He was much more handsome than Aunt—though still not as handsome as "Nice Butt." His face bore a resemblance to Nice Butt, so they were probably brothers.

If I hadn't known Aunt first, even I would have believed Aunt harassed this guy. His scholarly and gentle appearance made me feel uneasy, as if I were the wolf, about to devour an innocent lamb.

As soon as he saw me, he asked in confusion:

"Who are you?"

I immediately stood up, trying to come up with a cover story.

"I'm a friend of your older brother."

His expression shifted to surprise, then quickly to annoyance. However, he remained polite:

"I'm not looking for a girlfriend."

He turned to leave, but I quickly changed tactics.

"You're mistaken. I came here to promote a product. I think you'll be interested."

I took out the lipstick Duyên had given me.

"This is an imported lipstick from the U.S. The color is stunning. Give me your hand, I'll apply a sample."

He hesitated before sitting down again.

The moment he extended his hand, I knew I had won half the battle. A twisted scheme requires a twisted approach.

Instead of applying it to his wrist, I swiped it on his finger. If it were anyone else, I would've been heartbroken at wasting a U.S. brand lipstick—a birthday gift from Duyên. But for this handsome guy? No regrets.

I couldn't help but wonder—why wasn't he born a girl? Such a waste!

"See? The color is beautiful, and it even shimmers."

His expression brightened slightly.

I immediately tore a piece of paper from my notebook and wiped his fingers clean.

Yes! Success!

Even if I had failed, I still had a trump card—his older brother.

"I'll leave this lipstick with you. Try it out. If you like it, call me, and I'll deliver more."

Just as I was about to slip away, a voice full of suspicion stopped me:

"What is your real purpose for coming here?"

Crap. For someone who looks so innocent, he sure is sharp.

I forced a smile, keeping my cool.

"I'm a student selling imported cosmetics."

He suddenly stood up and grabbed my arm, gripping it tightly.

"Tell the truth."

I was terrified. Before I could react, he pulled me into his arms.

I was doomed. He's not gay—he's bi!

I hadn't even had a boyfriend yet, hadn't had my first kiss yet, and now I was about to lose my innocence in such a ridiculous way?!

His firm grip made him seem more manly than any of the guys in my class. I wondered, was he this forceful with Aunt too?

Then, as his rapid breath warmed my hair, I snapped back to reality. Why was I even thinking like this?!

I panicked and shouted:

"Let go of me!"

Serves me right. I thought I was the wolf, about to eat a sheep, but the sheep turned around and devoured me instead.

But strangely enough, his grip slowly loosened until he finally let me go.

If I had known it would be this difficult, I wouldn't have come to see this handsome guy.

I could have just written in my notebook:

"Get Trần Bình Minh's signature on the paper I give you."

That would have made everything so much simpler.

After leaving his house, I finally calmed down. It turns out that once someone is marked in the notebook, I don't even need to write commands—I can just give verbal orders.

What an interesting discovery.

Honestly, today wasn't such a loss after all. Now, if I wanted to torment someone, I wouldn't be limited by the size of a single page.

When I got back to the dorm, I secretly opened my notebook and wrote:

"Withdraw the lawsuit, publicly apologize to Hoàng Kim Chung, and compensate him for emotional and reputational damages."

I let out a sigh of relief. How simple everything was. This truly was a magical notebook.

A few days later, Aunt's name was cleared.

The lawsuit hadn't been made public yet, so Aunt didn't become infamous for a scandal. Duyên had connections with the principal, so she knew everything. As soon as the lawsuit was withdrawn, she excitedly told me.

I had taken a risk not just for Aunt, but also for this smile.

This smile would be even more perfect if Aunt returned Duyên's feelings. But that was something she had to work for herself.

As for me? I had my own problems to deal with.

Once Aunt recovered, he'd be back to teaching.

For some reason, I felt restless. I wanted to see him in class as soon as possible.
