Chapter 28

Chapter 28: The Real King's War

The moment Kai saw the envelope in Leo's hand, his playful demeanor disappeared. He snatched it without a word, his eyes narrowing as he scanned the contents. The note was simple yet chilling:

"Your end is near. Black Feather will fall."

Leo watched him, confused and slightly unnerved. "What's that about? Who sent it?"

Kai's jaw clenched as he folded the note and slid it into his pocket. His voice was calm, but the edge in it was razor-sharp. "Stay out of it."

Leo's frustration boiled over. "Kai, you can't keep brushing things off. I'm in this mess too. Why the hell are these people targeting me?"

Kai's eyes met Leo's, cold and unyielding. "They're not targeting you, Leo. They're using you to get to me."

Before Leo could question further, Kai pulled out his phone and sent a message.

"Eliminate them. All of them."

The Pretenders' Threat

Kai left without another word, his car roaring through the city streets like a predator on the hunt. His mind was a storm of rage and calculation. Pretenders claiming to be Black Feather? Threatening Leo?

The audacity of it burned in his veins. They didn't just insult his organization—they crossed a line that demanded blood.

---

The Hideout

Kai's men tracked the culprits to an abandoned factory on the outskirts of the city. As he arrived, his team briefed him.

"They've been targeting businesses linked to you, boss," one of his men said. "But the note? It's a warning. They want to push you out of the game."

Kai's expression darkened. "Let's remind them who they're dealing with."

Inside the factory, the air was thick with smoke and the murmur of voices. A group of men sat around a makeshift table, weapons strewn carelessly. Their leader, a muscular man with a jagged scar across his face, laughed as he inspected a map of Leo's business locations.

"Easy pickings," the man sneered. "Once we take him out, Black Feather's reign is over."

Kai's voice cut through the air like a blade. "You think you can take me out?"

The men froze as Kai stepped into the light, flanked by his team. His presence was electrifying—commanding, dangerous.

The leader recovered quickly, drawing his gun. "You've got guts showing up here alone."

Kai smirked. "Who said I'm alone?"

---

The Fight

Before the man could react, Kai's team opened fire. The factory erupted into chaos, bullets ricocheting off metal beams as the pretenders scrambled for cover.

Kai moved like a shadow, disarming one man with a swift twist of his arm before slamming him into a pillar. He ducked a swing from another attacker, retaliating with a knife slash that left his opponent gasping for air.

The leader barked orders, but his men were no match for Kai's precision and brutality. In the chaos, Kai caught the leader trying to escape. He tackled him to the ground, pinning him with one knee.

"Who sent you?" Kai demanded, his voice cold and lethal.

The man spat blood, laughing. "You think killing me will change anything? You're not untouchable. Black Feather is just a name now."

Kai's eyes flashed with anger. "Black Feather is power. And you'll never live to see it fall."

With a single motion, Kai ended the man's life.

---

A Bloody Warning

As the dust settled, Kai's men secured the area. Survivors were rounded up, their fear palpable. Kai stood amidst the carnage, his shirt stained with blood but his resolve unshaken.

"Leave one alive," he ordered. "Let him spread the word. The real king has returned."

His men nodded, dragging a trembling survivor to the door.

Back at the Apartment

When Kai returned to Leo's apartment, he was greeted by silence. Leo stood by the window, his arms crossed.

"Where were you?" Leo asked, his tone laced with suspicion.

"Handling it," Kai replied, pouring himself a glass of whiskey.

"Handling what? Kai, people are coming after me because of you. I deserve to know what's going on."

Kai's expression softened for a moment, but the steel in his eyes remained. "It's better if you don't. Trust me."

Leo slammed his hand on the table. "No, Kai. I'm not some pawn in your game. If I'm at risk, I need answers."

Kai sighed, his exhaustion evident. "Leo, the less you know, the safer you are. These people… they don't play by rules. And neither do I."

Leo's frustration was clear, but he couldn't ignore the weight in Kai's words.

---

The Real King's Decision

Later that night, as Leo slept fitfully, Kai stood on the balcony, staring into the city. His phone buzzed with a message from his top lieutenant.

"It's done. The pretenders are gone."

Kai's lips curled into a grim smile.

But his thoughts were far from finished. The Black Feather wasn't

just a name—it was a legacy. And if anyone dared to challenge that, they would face the wrath of its true king.
