Melody's tears burst forth instantly, throwing the entire conference room into chaos.

Liam glanced at her with a hint of disgust, then turned to me with a smile.

"Seraphina, don't take Melody's thoughtlessness to heart."

"If you help me through this crisis, I promise to let bygones be bygones."

"You're still the Mrs. Winters of our family."

Though he verbally chastised Melody, he was actually defending her.

Hah, what a devoted lover.

"Mr. Winters, you jest. If anyone should be holding grudges, it's me."

"The decision to withdraw funds is final. Anything you say now is futile."

"Oh, and please tell your wife to brush her teeth more often. It might help with her bad breath."

I fired off these words in one breath, then left without another glance at them, striding away confidently.

Behind me, I could faintly hear Liam's angry curses.

I smiled slightly. Liam, your good days are over.
