Sword Dance + Quest #2 Completion
"What's a sword dance" I questioned Sai
{A sword dance is a series of moves that can be used for attacking and defending, also when it is used the user shall recieve a buff for a limited duration}
I nodded in ny understanding. This quest shouldn't be too hard but I haven't encountered any sword books in the entire library of our castle. Guess I've got to ask my mom for help again
Later….
"Sorry baby, mom is a mage I don't use the sword plus your dad hogs all the books about swords you'll have to ask him I can't help you with this one"
Sigh… time to go ask my dad for help…
Entering my dad's study I looked around…books lined the walls from top to bottom, not a speck of dust in sight, a mahogany table was placed at the center of the room with a neat assortment of paper and books on the surface. My dad was not here, I called a servant and asked him to inform my dad that I'm visiting him in his study
I decided to look around and at the books. 'Introduction to sword aura', 'How to defeat magic with a sword', 'One with the Sword-A conplete guide'
"What do you think?" a voice sounded behind me
I turn around to see my dad leaning against the doorframe.
"It's incredible, any sword master would be jealous of this book collection"
"Indeed they would" he picked up a book from the shelf "I've spent my entire life collecting books about the sword and stored them in this room, I doubt there is anyone more knowledgeable about it than me" He then turned to me and put the book into my hand "This is the first book I ever had now I give it to you, learn it well" He then left the room
I stood there and watched him leave. Then I looked at the book he gave me. 'Dragon's sword dances through the night'.
I started reading the book and memorizing the moves to complete the dance. After reading through it I decided to practice it in the courtyard.
Derek POV
I stood there with my wife looking at our son attempting to learn the sword dance with a tiny wooden sword
"He looks extremely dedicated" my wife says from the side
"Yes" I replied not taking my eyes off
"You shouldn't be so hard on him. Did you even tell him what that sword dance represents?" my wife questioned
"He'll figure it out in his own and he needs it later anyways" I say
"Sigh….sometimes I just can't figure you out. It seems as if you foget that Lucian hasn't even turned one yet"
"The earlier he learns the better"
We leave Lucian after that. Based on the way the the sward was moving he would learn it in a little bit. I couldn't show it but even I was suprised at how quick my son learns. A feeling of pride bubbled in my chest.
Lucian POV
"Haah,Haah,Haah" I was panting and sweating. Its been 2 hours since I started my moves are perfect, i'm just... missing the flow…
It feels like i'm forgeting something.Then, it clicked.I've just been doing it to complete the task i need to figure out why i'm doing this
'Do i do this for the future for the past? Do I do this for strength or knowledge or do i do this for myself?'
As I replay these thoughts in my head I begin the swords dance.
'Strength? Do i need it? Past? fight for something that's already gone? No! I do this for myself and the future that lies ahead of me.'
