Chapter 6: Training

Chapter 6: Training

~Azure S. POV~

[Kanto Region, Viridian City – Pokémon Center]

She pouted, hearing my response, getting close as I kept my distance from her. She replied nonchalantly, shrugging her shoulders, "My, that's rude of you to say. But granted, how we met, we didn't exactly have the chance to speak under the circumstances. Although it's reassuring that you brought your Pokémon here. The name's Leaf Green, but ya can call me Green, and you are…?"

Blinking a bit, I thought before finally introducing myself calmly, "Azure Sky. Now, what exactly do you want with me, Miss Green?"

She giggled at me, calling me Miss, as she bluntly said to me in a bold tone, "Haha! Good one. But you can just call me Green. Are you interested in a deal?"

Looking at her directly, I recall that the Green from the manga is quite cunning and quick-witted. She can talk others into believing a bald-faced lie and talk her way out of many tight situations.

At one point, she convinces Red to buy a bunch of useless items for his Pikachu. Green is also a master of disguise; she uses her Ditto, Ditty, as a mask and can make herself look like anyone she wants.

The original Green was designed after the early sketches for a Lass and a female protagonist shown in early concept art for Pokémon Red and Green. When a female player character from Kanto finally appeared in Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen, Green changed her clothes to match Leaf's in-game appearance.

Green's special skill, as described by Professor Oak, is the knowledge of Pokémon Evolution, a skill she learned during her time as a Masked Child. For this skill, she is known as the [Evolver], a title.

Hence, she's more knowledgeable about Pokémon evolution currently in Kanto, and maybe along with Professor Oak. But returning my attention to the situation of her presently being here, I get straight to the point as I bluntly said, "And what exactly is the deal you're planning to offer here?"

She merely smirked at that, holding up two Poke Balls. I can guess it was Squirtle since she stole one; the other could be any good guess as she explains cooly, "Heh. I'm planning to enter the Trainer Exam to get the benefits of a Pokémon Trainer. But you see, I need to train my new Pokémon for the exam, and seeing you'll be needing assistance, I will allow you to study under me for a price, of course."

Pausing at that sounds like something I'm exactly doing, but that doesn't explain why she's here and talking to me. Wait, why does he want me specifically – yeah, suddenly, it becomes a lot clearer now.

She assumed I stole that Pikachu, hence, she came to me. Probably blackmail if I tried anything funny.

Raising an eyebrow at her in doubt, I didn't question that becoming a Trainer does have its perks, with a free bed in Pokémon Centers along with free healing provided by the Pokémon League, with the permission to pay for Poke Balls from Poke Marts, and with free meals for them in the process. And that's only mentioning the iceberg of perks.

Dealing with Green, however, is a slight issue, although there are benefits if I agree. I recalled how she was taught by the Masked Man there might be some benefit to this partnership.

Considering the idea, I was still biased against her to a fair degree. She's a thief, after all, useful and knowledgeable, but still a thief.

However, I'm too poor to offer her anything good. I shook my head, declining her offer in a respectful tone as she clicked her teeth and left. Yeah, sweetie, I'm not gonna be bought out like that from an 11-year-old chick.

After she left, I waited a bit till I got my Pikachu saying his healthy as he can be. It made me smile at the news as we proceeded to start our training.

Opening my Arc Phone, I wanted to check if there were a few locations shown from the anime here in the Pokémon Adventures Series world. I wanted to know if it existed, as I took a look online to search for some Pokémon anime-exclusive areas within the Pokémon Adventures Manga world.

Checking if Rota existed, I frowned that anime-exclusive areas were not found. At least not with this world knowledge, but with my Arc Phone, it's a different story. Along with a few other anime-exclusive Pokémon places, I was excited to see that this world takes more focus on the Manga than the anime version.

Having known this, I knew I needed to make my Pokémon Team soon. But I can't rush to make a rag-tag team, though, since it does take years to take them to their higher levels based on the Adventure Timeline of events.

I sighed a breath of relief, taking a moment to calm my nerves, but also worry. I also know I must find a suitable living place for myself now that I think about it, as I'm living in this Pokémon world.

There are MANY things to do here and items to collect before I leave Kanto. But to do that, I'll need a few Pokémon to help me out.

With that in mind, I'll need another Pokémon to add to my team. I'll settle for a simple one I have in mind, considering I'll need a team in the future.

However, I also must be careful in picking my team. From what I read from my Arc Phone about team building, the reason why Trainers usually keep 6 Pokémon is because that's the maximum limit to give them attention and care.

Following that logic, I must be extremely careful about which Pokémon members I want to add to my team. I was thinking of pulling an Ash, restarting each region with a new set of Pokémon, but in Adventures, though…

And another thing, because of the events in Hoenn Pokémon that are usually found in other regions, like, say, a Ralts or Sychther in Sinnoh. It was only after the events of Groudon and Kyogre's fight that everything shifted.

Their weather abilities changed the climate of the Pokémon World to migrate into different regions. At least, that's what I think, but I would have to go to different regions myself to figure out more.

Till then, though, I'll be satisfied with what I can do. Depending on how far the events are placed, I'll try to reap the most benefits I can.

However, for today, I've got to train my Pikachu first before pondering on what I can or can't do. With that in mind, I'll train near the gate of Route 22 to get a chance to escape if things go south.

I took the chance to admire Viridian City for its beauty despite holding it as a secret base for Giovanni, the Eight Gym Leader, to be the leader of Team Rocket. Viridian City is a small city located in western Kanto. It is home to the Viridian Gym, which can only be challenged by the player once they have obtained the Badges of the seven other Gyms of Kanto.

In the Kanto-based games, the Gym Leader is Giovanni, the boss of Team Rocket and a Ground-type expert. After being defeated, he abandons the Gym and is replaced by Blue, who has no specialty type. He is the Gym Leader during the events of the Johto-based games.

The city has three exits. To the north is Route 2, divided into two by Viridian Forest and leading to Pewter City.

To the south is Route 1, leading to Pallet Town. To the west is Route 22, leading to the Pokémon League Reception Gate.

But for now, I'm heading toward Route 22 to get myself ready for the grind for my Pokémon while remembering there are other species inside Route 22, some rarer than others. I had my hopes up.

Rattata, Spearow, Nidoran Male/Female, Mankey, Magikarp, Poliwag, Golden, Ponyta, Doduo, Psyduck, and possibly a Slowpoke. Plenty of Pokémon I could use for my main team in rotation, but how to choose is always so hard to pick.

I don't know who to go for. Maybe I'll take on who can pick my fancy… I should head out to get some Pokémon to get in Route 22 soon. But I should remain cautious all the same, as I've heard rumors from trainers in the Pokémon Center.

I've heard as of late that Pokémon not found in Route 22 have been spotted. Like Viridian Forest, where news of aggressive Geodudes living in the area, along with another Pokémon, is not usually seen in Viridian Forest.

Momentarily, I was stunned upon hearing the news. But when I recalled how Giovanni in the manga had experimental Pokémon living in Viridian Forest.

He did obtain them through the Safari Zone or their labs for biological modifications. It could be possible that there are other Pokémon that escaped from Viridian Forest into the other routes.

Perhaps I'll find Pokémon not commonly found on Route 22. Hopefully, the savage Pokémon won't mess up the ecosystem.

[Kanto Region, Route 22]

[Observe.]

[Location: Route 22

Description: Route 22 is a route located in western Kanto. It connects Viridian City in the east to the Pokémon League Reception Gate in the west. A path to Victory Road that eventually becomes impassable.]

Heading towards Route 22, I remember what it was like in the games with trees everywhere, patches of grass, and a lake I'm seeing between some trees. Even observed another Pokémon as well.

Pikachu perched over my shoulder and was in awe, observing the scenery. I guess we both couldn't help it.

But it does make me wonder where my Pikachu came from as I rubbed his head. He cried out happily at me, scratching his head, "Cha~"

Smiling at my partner, I began to wonder what moves I'd need to teach him. As a Partner Pikachu, my Mouse Pokémon gains access to 4 exclusive Pokémon Moves that only he can learn alone.

Zippy Zap. Floaty Fall. Splishy Splash. Pika Papow.

Those moves are incredibly busted for a Pikachu. Not only that, if my Partner can learn them, then what about the Cosplay Pikachu?

That Cosplay Pikachu I seem to recall can learn the moves Meteor Mash, Icicle Crash, Draining Kiss, Electric Terrain, and Flying Press. I wonder if it's possible to teach my Pikachu those moves.

They could provide good type coverage for my pal to learn. I can show Pikachu how with my Arc Phone, showing videos of how to perform them, as it contains moves that can be taught to certain Pokémon, if possible.

But the issue lies if Pikachu can learn those moves. Or rather the Type of energy needed to perform them?

Sigh… I'm overthinking things. First, I must train my Pikachu before I can make any sound judgment. And using these Pokémon here to grind would be my first step into becoming the Pokémon Master.

Heh. I suppose the first step is to become an Ace trainer. But meh, I'll deal with it.
