Chapter 40: The Jynx Jinx
~Azure S. POV~
[Kanto Region, Next Day, Celadon City – Pokémon Center]
Waking up, as I felt the sunlight hit my eyes through the window, I groaned. My eyes adjust to seeing my Pokémon sleeping, with Growlithe steadily resting in a corner, with Dragonair taking up one of the beds, coiling up.
My head turned to my bed to see Pikachu asleep with our newest member to the team, Vee the Eevee. Or I guess just Eevee, as Red named her Vee.
Steadily waking up, stretching my body, I began to grab my cooking utensils out of my Sub-Space along with a few berries from my berry packet. Opening my Arc Phone, checking on the Poke Block method for an Eevee, I began to prep a diet plan for her.
While steadily planning out my Pokémon breakfast, I'll need to start doing Erika's Gym Challenge soon. But I hope she doesn't propose that I give her my Eevee just to get the Gym Badge.
Which brings up another issue: Eevee's evolutions. Using them all would be a big problem for multiple reasons. Say, have my Pokémon get taken like how Red Vee's was taken because he sent him into the PC, assuming he'd be safe.
Best to have her stick to one Eevee Evolution per battle. Or help her unlock the ability to evolve into her other forms, which involves a high enough level of friendship to achieve such a goal.
Although I do have a better way with my Leaf Stone. Hmm… I'll give Eevee a choice, making suggestions on how she wants to solve this problem.
After making some breakfast for everyone and welcoming our new member to the team, I brought up the topic of how to cure him. Getting everyone's attention in a calm tone, said to them, "Alright, Eevee, about your condition, I have a few ways to help you."
Eevee already perked up as I had already removed the device located on her ear. Eevee perked up as I showed my Arc Phone of his possible evolutions in a calm tone, "The way to help you out would be to evolve you into a different form that's outside your Flareon, Vaporeon, and Jolteon. Here, look and see."
Eevee was immediately interested as he looked at the other forms, amazed and shocked. I showed her the other forms she could evolve into: Umbreon, Espeon, Leafeon, Glaceon, and Sylveon.
Eevee's eyes widened, seeing the multiple forms. Holding up the Leaf Stone, my Pokémon's eyes widened, realizing I'm using the legendary Vermillion Legend Stones as I said, "We're lucky that I have a Leaf Stone for you to use. But I don't want to force this upon you, Eevee. We can see if the stone evolution works."
Eevee stared at my Leaf Stone, looking unsure of herself. She gazed at the others, who nodded in understanding, trusting her choice.
Eevee looked conflicted for the first few minutes. But she pushed forward with a resolute expression as she barked, "Eeveow… Eevow!"
[Would you like to use this item [Leaf Stone]?]
[Which Pokémon will you use it for?]
Pressing the Leaf Stone over Eevee's head, we saw the miracle of evolution. Eevee was enveloped in a blinding light as my Leaf Stone wasn't used up, keeping its permanent use for future evolution.
*Shiii*
Eevee's form began to change. I smiled seeing her small figure grow a bit in size, revealing herself to be a Leafeon.
Leafeon is a mammalian, quadrupedal Pokémon. Its body is tan with dark brown paws. It has a multitude of small green sprouts growing all over its legs, chest, and back, with the longest one on its head, in front of four tan tufts of fur. Leafeon's green ears and tail resemble tattered leaves. It has brown eyes and a small, brown nose.
Checking my Arc Phone, I smiled. Eevee did change if my Arc Phone is correct with the info provided.
|Name: Leafeon (Evolution Pokémon)
|Type: Grass (Fire/Water/Electric/Normal)
|Level: 25
|Held Item: None
|Gender: Female
|Ability: Leaf Guard
|Nature: Mild
|Moves: Covet, Tackle, Tail Whip, Sand Attack, Quick Attack, Baby-Doll Eyes, Swift, Bite, Mimic, Razor Leaf (IM), Ember (IM), Thunder Shock (IM), Water Gun (IM), Yawn (EM) (6 Moves to learn)
[Leafeon the Verdant Pokémon. This Pokémon's cellular structure is like plants, which allows it to perform photosynthesis and purify the air around it by sleeping under the sunlight; it gets its energy in this way instead of eating.
It is a pacifistic, quiet Pokémon, preferring not to fight, though it will sharpen its hard, leafy tail for the occasions it needs to. The tail's sharpness is said to exceed that of a master-crafted sword, being able to cut down a large tree with one hit. Leafeon's aroma is like fresh grass in its youth; as it ages, this fragrance bears more of a resemblance to fallen leaves.
The aroma is favored in Galar, where it is used to create a popular perfume. It lives in lush forests that have clean rivers. The air produced by a sleeping Leafeon can help any Pokémon sleep deeply.]
The light vanished as Eevee gazed on her new form as a Leafeon, as she barked, "Lea… Leafeon!"
Moving around, it seemed like Leafeon moved around as my Pokémon cried out happily. But before I could congratulate her, Leafeon's ears twitched as I asked concerned, "Uh… you, okay?"
*Shiii*
Before I could get an answer, a sudden burst of light enveloped Leafeon once again. The glow of evolution wasn't fading, it was reversing. I could only watch in stunned silence as the light grew brighter, and then just as quickly as it had started, it vanished.
Eevee was back. The sleek brown Leafeon was gone, replaced by the familiar form of Eevee as she looked up, seeing just as confused as I am. I rechecked my Arc Phone to see if there were any changes.
|Name: Eevee (Evolution Pokémon)
|Type: Normal (Fire/Water/Electric/Grass)
|Level: 25
|Held Item: None
|Gender: Female
|Ability: Adaptability
|Nature: Mild
|Moves: Covet, Tackle, Tail Whip, Sand Attack, Quick Attack, Baby-Doll Eyes, Swift, Bite, Mimic, Razor Leaf (IM), Ember (IM), Thunder Shock (IM), Water Gun (IM), Yawn (EM) (6 Moves to learn)
Seems like there were some changes. Eevee dropped down seemingly by the news as I said calmly, rubbing her head, "No worries, Eevee, we aren't out of options left. Since stone evolution is out, then you're evolving into Umbreon, Slyveon, or Espeon Pokémon that rely on friendship to evolve."
Eevee smiled a bit, hearing this, but then I recalled something important today. Standing up, determined, I spoke in a determined tone, "Alright, team, if the Eevee evolutions won't work, I have two final plans that'll work. But the first one is to have Eevee's wish granted by the wish-granting Pokémon Jirachi."
Their eyes widened, hearing that. I smiled, nodding that Jirachi exists, but the second one is while we were on a time crunch, as I stated to them, "But she won't be awake for a few years longer… but I know one Pokémon that could help Eevee. We'll be short on time, but our chances rely on the Mythical Pokémon Mew."
Eevee looked shocked, seeing how much I'm willing to help her. And besides that, what's the best way to form our friendship faster than helping Eevee get over her pain of evolving into other forms?
The only Pokémon I know that can do that is Jirachi and Mew. Jirachi won't be available in the next few years, ahead thus left Mew, which I could ask for help right now if my timing of the story is right.
Mew has the power of literally EVERY Pokémon that exists. Except for a few, and God, of course, but with her abilities mimicking ANY Pokémon, including Ho-Oh's reconstruction ability as it did for the Legendary Beast, then the chance is possible.
If I miss this chance, I'll have to go to Mew's Island with Dragonair. Narrowing my eyes, my Pokémon all nodded as Pikachu leaped over my shoulder, as it was time to meet up with Green again.
But before that… taking out the TM for Hyper Beam, it's best to power Dragonair up. Just as a safety precaution, of course.

~Third POV~
[Kanto Region, Route 16]
Having escaped from Team Rocket, Red reluctantly leads Green back to their base, comforting himself with the thought that they may be safe, since Team Rocket has succeeded in retrieving the disc about Mew. Green gleefully reveals that they haven't—she gave them a fake and kept the real one so that she could be the one to capture Mew.
Green sends out Ditty, showing Red it's capable of a perfect Mew disguise, and sends it out to distract Team Rocket while she finds and captures the real one. She also reminds him that since Team Rocket thinks they're working together, she needs his help.
Back underground in the secret underground laboratory, they realize the disk they were given is a fake, but their anger immediately fades as they seemingly spot Mew hiding outside in the grass on their security cameras. All the Team Rocket Grunts are quickly ordered outside to capture it. At a distance, Red and Green watch the Grunts race out from the lab, heading after Ditty.
Green bets that Ditty can keep them fooled, at least until they realize Ditty doesn't know what any of Mew's moves are. Green pulls out a modified Silph Scope, drawing attention from Red.
Green explains that she calls it a "Mew-View", a device to track the unique brainwaves Psychic Pokémon produce when they use their powers, allowing them to track down Mew if they match the device to its psychic patterns. She peeks through, immediately seeing psychic activity off towards the southeast.
Arriving at their destination on Route 16, Red sits down on the grass as Green continues searching around, and he tells her about the half-formed Mewtwo he saw in Team Rocket's lab, but she seems uninterested, informing him that she's just searching for Mew because of the money involved.
She asks Red how many Pokémon he thinks there are, and as he confidently says there are 150, Green cuts him off, telling him about the incredible rarity of the 151st Pokémon, Mew. With a Pokémon nearly unknown to society on basically every level, there's no limit to how much she could charge for it.
While they were discussing things, Azure, from high above the sky, riding Dragonair, observed the situation as he muttered patiently, "We just need to wait a bit longer before we can make our move… It's here."
*Swooosh*
Suddenly, a swirl of energy surrounds them, revealing itself to be Mew. Red is almost too stunned to move, but is forced into action by Green's orders, as they send out Blasty and Saur. Red says that Saur's Vine Whip would be perfect for catching such a fast Pokémon, but he can't even see it.
In response, Green calls out Hydro Pump, causing Mew's silhouette to fall against the large pillars of water rising from the ground. Now that they can see it coming, Saur successfully wraps his vines around Mew's body.
*GOMP*
From above, a massive rock strikes down in front of them, drawing their attention to the top of a nearby cliff, revealing a large group of Team Rocket Grunts, alongside a Jynx holding up an exhausted Ditty. Ditty is thrown down to their feet, and before they can react, Jynx is commanded to use Psybeam.
*Shiii*
Green starts to panic as Mew has almost escaped Saur's vines, and Red tells her to hurry out as fast as she can with Mew while he keeps the Grunts occupied. Green hesitates, but Red elaborates that he knows that Mew ending up in their hands would lead to them being able to finish Mewtwo.
Green finally starts to escape, when suddenly a powerful Psywave from Jynx freezes them in place, snapping the Vine Whip and sending Mew hurtling towards Jynx. The rocket grunt laughs as he declares, "It's mine!! Now Mewtwo will be complete… and we'll have the power to destroy anyone and anything – "
Before he could finish a single shout startled all but Mew, who observed Azure from above, call out, "Dragonair… Hyper Beam."
An orb of energy appears in front of Dragonair's horn, and it fires a zigzagging beam of energy from the ball at the opponent. And the opponent in this case was the Jynx that was slammed by it, heading towards the other Team Rocket Grunts as they screamed, being caught in the blast.
*PEW*
*KABOOOM*
A large beam attack destroyed the Jynx as it lay in Yamcha pose in a crater from Dragonair's Hyper Beam attack. And the Team Rocket Grunts, along with the Jynx owner, were harshly damaged from the attack and fainted from the pain they endured.
Red and Green looked up and called in shock, "Azure!!"
Temporarily ignoring the two, Dragonair majestically floats over to Mew, taking off the vines as he asks in a pleading tone, getting Mew's attention, "Mew… can you please help my Eevee with her condition? I need your help to make her better…"
*Pop*
Eevee appeared, gazing at Mew as it sensed genuine care for his Pokémon and pleas. Even though Mew's rarely seen, it will willingly show itself to a person who is pure of heart and has a strong desire to see it.
Mew sensed Azure's strong desire to see it, along with a pure heart within him. Not only that, but Mew's eyes widened, detecting latent Aura and Psychic energy in him as it thought in a curious tone, 'Ah! I've never met a human who has this much potential inside himself! Not only is his heart pure, but his aura is the purest I've seen in a human! Hmm… but I wonder why he wants to seek me?'
Mew is known to be playful, has a childish personality, showing signs of high intelligence, curiosity, shyness, playfulness, and even selflessness. Mew, the curious Pokémon, tapped into Eevee's head, looking through his memories in a flash as it cried out, "Mew? Mew… Mew!"
*Shiii*
A shine of pink light enveloped Eevee as Green and Red shielded their eyes. The pink light turned a crimson fire as Mew used Transform, borrowing the ability of Ho-Oh to reconstruct Eevee's body, granting it a unique ability.
When the light show ended, Eevee blinked, seeing herself as Mew, informed the two in a childish tone, 'It is done! I've fixed your Pokémon problem now; she'll be able to evolve and devolve without any pain! Praise me!'
Azure chuckled as he petted Mew, purring happily. And then he took a few pictures of Mew as he gave it a bag of Psychic-type Poke Blocks as he thanked Mew, "Thanks, Mew… I owe you big time in the future. Here, these are for you."
Mew took the bag of Poke Blocks, taking a bite out of one. Its eyes widened as it cried out happily, "Mew?... MEW! Miiii! Mew~"
Dragonair lifted them down as Green stared awe struck at the scene. Red's mouth was agape as he said in disbelief, "D-Did Azure just tame Mew with food…?"
Mew gave a final look at the 3 trainers with a small wave before it vanishes in a flash of light, turning invisible, enjoying its treats. Azure turned to the two while recalling his Pokémon, except for Pikachu, as he said smugly, "So… did I make an awesome entrance or what?"
Red returns to his carefree attitude, agreeing in an optimistic tone, "Heck yeah, you did! And your Dratini evolved into Dragonair, congrats!"
Azure nodded, accepting his thanks as he turned to Green he saying curiously, "Say Green… you wouldn't happen to know some people interested in wanting these photos of Mew for a good price? We can share the profit?"
Showing his Arc Phone in the photo's app of Mew with much clearer form, she grinned, causing Red to be flabbergasted. Green said in a happy tone, "Azure Sky, welcome to the dark side. I know a few who would be willing to pay for that photo in say… thousands of Poke Dollars?"
Red froze as Azure grinned with a happy smile as he replied, adjusting his cap, "Leaf Green… where and when do we sell the photos to get thousands into our Trainer Card account?"
Green grinned as the two had just made an unspoken deal with Red, stunned to see his friend's attitude. Azure, on the other hand, thought happily, 'Thanks, Mew, for your pics. I bet they'll sell quite a lot for thousands of Poke Dollars. Enough to feed my new future party members. Heh.'

A/N: If you guys were wondering, yes, Vee, or rather Partner Eevee, will have the ability to switch into its other Eevee Evolution forms but will remain in her default Eevee form unless otherwise. Just gotta unlock them first to access them, and with the MC helping Eevee's biggest issue, the friendship requirement just skyrocketed.
