She followed Eloise back the way they’d come, the hallways now alive with students moving between their rooms and the bathrooms or chatting together on their way to the dining hall for breakfast. Caroline did her best not to make eye contact as they walked past, feeling self-conscious and nervous.

“You like a piece of toast and a cup of coffee in the morning, even though your mother always tells you you’re too young for coffee, and it will stunt your growth,” Eloise replied without turning around.
“How would you even know that? Do you have some kind of file on me or something?”
“I’m a Voyante. It’s my job to know these things. Besides, the dining hall is the best place for you to observe each of the factions while being discreet. Two birds. One stone.”
