Eloise nodded and walked off without turning back to ensure she was followed. Caroline looked longingly at the various factions as they bustled and joked. With a sigh, she followed Eloise.

As they ascended the spiral staircase and walked down the narrow hallway to her aunt’s office door, Caroline realized it was the one place she’d have no trouble finding in the enormous academy—she’d been there so many times already.
