“You voluntarily want to attend a class?” asked Eloise, her right eyebrow raised.
Caroline shrugged, “What else am I going to do?” Without waiting for an answer, she walked into the bathroom and closed the door, pressing her back against it as she forced herself to take a deep breath. Something was off, but she didn’t know what it was. She felt fantastic, yet everyone seemed surprised—almost disappointed—that she wasn’t still recuperating in bed. Standing under the showerhead, Caroline let her mind wander to Aldrick, then to Corbin, then back to Aldrick again as she reveled in the hot water caressing her skin, washing away the last of her anxiety and concerns. Stepping out of the shower, she wrapped a towel around herself and walked over to the mirror. Using her hand, she wiped the fog away from the glass and inspected her reflection. With her free hand, she pulled at the skin on her neck, surprised that there wasn’t at least some bruising.
