“Well, that’s why we’re here,” Tilda smiled.
“I really appreciate it. I know I’m new here…”
“Yeah, but there is clearly a bigger picture, and you seem to be at the center of it,” Laurent said.
“Wow. Way to make her feel welcome.” Corbin scoffed. “Don’t worry, C. I’ve got your back. We all do, and I know this place like the back of my hand. There are two ways in and out of the library, and Laurent and I can cover as lookouts for both of those.”
“That suits me fine. I want to be close to Tilda just in case things go sideways.” Laurent agreed.
“They won’t. We’ll be fine.” Tilda stood up on her tiptoes and planted a kiss on his cheek. “The library technically isn’t manned after curfew at 10 pm, but entry into the archives requires a hand scan of an authorized staff member.”
“So, you don’t need to morph completely into Eloise?” Caroline asked.
