Chapter 7

Brent and Melody both came from poor backgrounds, having lost their parents and growing up together in an orphanage.

Conditions in the orphanage were harsh, with the children often going hungry and cold.

Melody was small and frail, not only having her food stolen by bigger kids.

She was also frequently beaten by them.

Back then, the only one who protected her was the clever Brent.

Brent knew which kitchen cabinet the nanny hid the leftover dinner rolls in.

He would sneak them out at night to feed her.

When others bullied her, he would use his slingshot from afar to chase them away.

He would then hide in the bushes to avoid being discovered by those bullies.

As time passed, when Melody first experienced love, she developed a secret crush on Brent.

Unfortunately later on, Melody was constantly pursued by the wealthy Damien.

Brent felt that he was too poor to be worthy of her, and didn't want to hold her back.

So he threw himself completely into his career.
