Chapter 1

Damien made a mistake at work and was charged with fraud.

I helped him by serving six years in prison, then upon release sought him out to fulfill his promise of marriage.

Only to hear that on the day of my sentencing, he had already held a lavish wedding with his pure love.

"You married Melody, but what about Evelina?"

Damien sneered coldly.

"Did Evelina really think I liked her? If Melody hadn't been blackmailed by those people who insisted on sending her away, I never would have contacted her in the first place."

"I was all prepared to take the fall for Melody, but luckily there was a gullible sucker."

"If she wanted to sacrifice herself, let her."

After learning of my release, he immediately had someone destroy my ID documents and educational certificates, ensuring I couldn't find work.

"To prevent her from revealing Melody's situation, no one is allowed to hire her."

I had a mental breakdown and went to confront Damien.

But I discovered the woman in his arms looked 80% similar to me."I forgot to tell you, from the beginning you were just Melody's stand-in."

"The man Melody loved manipulated her, and she was heartbroken when she finally came back to me. Of course I had to protect her well."

"When we slept together before, it was always other men I found. Nothing ever happened between us, so don't flatter yourself."

To prove he remained faithful to Melody, Damien had one of the previous men forcibly take me.

To prove he truly had no interest in me.

I fought back and fatally hit my head trying to resist.

Blood everywhere.

But Damien thought my death was for the best.

He used my corpse as kindling to light the fireworks.

Under the grand fireworks display,

He made lifelong vows to Melody.

When I woke up again, I was back to the day I got out of prison.

Damien pretended to thank me by inviting me to dinner again.

"Sure," I said.

With an icy smile.

Slipping the knife I had hidden at home into my pocket.

Damien faced potential criminal charges due to a work error. To marry him, I willingly took the fall.

After six years in prison, I was finally released.

Excitedly, I dialed Damien's number.

I asked him to fulfill his promise to marry me.

But Damien's tone was impatient as he answered.

"I thought it was some unknown number, but it's you? Don't you know I'm in meetings during this time?"

"Whatever, just come to Southhill Manor and I'll treat you to dinner."

He hadn't visited me once in six years, so of course I didn't know about his meetings.

I hesitated, thinking my voice must sound unpleasant, causing his irritation.

Six years in prison had left me gaunt and unrecognizable.

My voice naturally wasn't as pleasant as before.

To see him, I used the money I'd saved from prison labor to get dolled up at a salon.

I also put on a new red dress and sucked on throat lozenges.

Filled with excitement, I took a cab to his house.

But outside the living room, I overheard his conversation with a friend.

"Damien, I heard Evelina's out of prison?"

"You promised to marry her after she took the fall, but you married Miss Frost on the day of her sentencing. How are you going to explain this to her?"

Damien scoffed coldly.

"Did Evelina really think I liked her?"If it weren't for Melody getting caught by those people, who insisted on sending her in, I wouldn't have contacted her voluntarily."

"I was prepared to take the fall for Melody, but luckily there was a gullible sucker."

"If she's willing to sacrifice herself, let her."

"After all, she's been in prison for so many years, she's already washed up in society. She won't amount to anything, and I can easily manipulate her."

The friend applauds.

"Damien, you're so clever."

"That Evelina looks dumb as a rock."

Melody walks over in an exquisite lace nightgown, voluntarily sitting on Damien's lap.

The suggestive red marks on her neck speak volumes.

Damien takes the initiative to kiss her hand, but she swats him away in displeasure.

"That woman's life is ruined anyway, why let her come to our house and bother us?"

"I don't want to see her."

Damien smirks contemptuously.

"After all, we need to completely end our entanglement with that stupid donkey."

"I've already had someone destroy her ID documents and educational certificates. With her criminal record, she won't be able to find work out there."

"As long as she's broke, we can make her lick toilets if we want.""Wait until I've tormented her into submission."

"Then she'll never dare to challenge us or disrupt our lives again."

In my past life, hearing these words, I suffered a mental breakdown and rushed in to demand an explanation from Damien.

That's when I saw Melody's face as she turned around.

It turns out she and I looked so alike.

I had been her stand-in from the very beginning.

Damien, unable to win Melody's love, had settled for me instead.

My years of devotion not only became a stepping stone for their romance.

But also cost me my innocence and the rest of my life.

Faced with my accusations, Damien showed no remorse. Instead, he completely dropped his facade, allowing men who had overpowered me before to sleep with me in public.

I attempted suicide by smashing my head against a wall in rebellion.

Damien even thought my death was for the best, using the fat from my corpse as kindling to light fireworks in celebration.

In this new life, whether it's a jerk or pure love, they can all go to hell.

Listening to their sickening words.

I let out a cold laugh, pretending not to have heard, and took a stroll around the garden.

Then I claimed to have gotten lost, asking the servants to announce my arrival.

As I entered, I pressed down hard on the knife I had brought in my pocket.

"Evelina, you're here?"The living room was empty, with no trace of Melody and her friends.

Only Damien remained, dressed in a sharp suit.

"I didn't expect you to be out so soon. I thought you'd be sitting in there for a few more years."
