Chapter 9

"Mr. Stratton seems to have forgotten who it was that solemnly promised to buy the shares I held that day in the stock exchange hall. I'm only following your example now."

"You!" Melody was furious but couldn't argue back, because every word I said was true.

"Mr. Stratton, think it through carefully before you come to me again!"

I couldn't be bothered to waste words with her, so I hung up the phone after saying my piece.

Two days later, Melody came to find me at the company. She looked listless and haggard, almost unrecognizable.

"I agree to sell the shares to you. I hope you can transfer the money as soon as possible."

I instructed my assistant to bring the contract.

"Don't worry, as soon as the contract is signed, the money will be in your account immediately."

I learned from my assistant that over the past couple of days, Melody and Jason had been constantly harassed by angry shareholders. Just yesterday, Jason had his leg broken by someone.
