Suicidal maniac

The boy stole a pick at the door only to retreat towards the stairway.

While he might not be able to stare at it for long, the boy had discerned some of its features.

The door was about 10 feet in height and 5 feet in width.

The oddest thing about the door was that it seemed to be embedded into thin air.

The boy shook his head.

"It seems there is nothing more to see."

With that said the boy turned around and started to climb the staircase.

The way back to the weather deck was uneventful.

A sigh left the boy's lips as he walked towards the gunnel situated at the ship's bow.

When he reached gunnel, the boy rested his arms on it as he gazed at the sea with a distant look.

"What should I do now?"

In truth, the boy already knew the answer to that question since the time he woke up, he was just trying to make his last moments somewhat meaningful.

With a smile on his face, the boy climbed on the gunnel and jumped off the ship.

Splash!

A splashing sound was made as the boy's body hit the sea's water.

Woosh!

Just as the boy disappeared into the sea, something fast shot from the ship into the sea as well.

Few seconds later, the boy was ejected from the sea and landed unceremoniously on the ship's weather deck.

Bam!

Despite the pain, the boy smiled in satisfaction.

"I did not know the afterlife was such a painful experience."

With a groan, the boy stood up.

"Let's see what the after the afterlife has in store for me."

He then looked around.

That was when the boy froze.

"Does my afterlife feature the creepy ship? No! That is unacceptable!"

The boy immediately rushed into the hatchway leading to the ship's lower floors.

A few minutes later, the boy came out of the hatchway with a scorn on his face.

"Did I not die?"

Without wasting a second longer, the boy ran towards the nearest gunnels and jumped off the ship.

Splash!

Just like before, something shot from the ship into the sea.

Swoosh!

The boy was ejected from the sea a moment later.

Bam!

The boy landed on the weather deck.

When the boy noticed that he was still on the ship, confusion flashed across his face.

The boy looked around in wariness.

"Whoever is out there, show yourself!"

Silence was the only answer the boy got.

The performed an inspection throughout the ship, from the weather deck to the crew deck, from the crew deck to the cargo deck but found no one.

The boy narrowed his eyes.

He then did his third attempt at committing suicide.

Splash!

A splashing sound was made as the boy's body hit the water…..again.

This time the boy was determined to catch his unwelcomed rescuer.

As he descended deeper into the sea, the boy crossed his arms and fixed an unwavering gaze at the surface of the water and.....waited.

The boy neither cared about the pain assaulting his eyes nor the diminishing amount of air in his lungs.

Woosh!

That was when he saw it, the unwelcomed rescuer.

Despite being underwater, a look of disbelief still found its way on the boy's face for his unwelcomed rescuer was.....a rope.

The rope slithered across the water as if it had a mind of its own and wrapped itself around the boy's waist.

Before the boy could shake off his stupor, he was yanked out of the water.

Bam!

He landed unceremoniously on the ship's weather deck.

The boy immediately got up on his feet and walked towards the foremast, around the mast was a seemingly harmless rope that acted as a stay.

The boy pointed his finger at the rope.

"Your cover is blown buddy."

The rope squirmed slightly.

The boy smiled.

"I wouldn't mind if you are planning to do some despicable things to my corpse. Just wait a couple of hours at best before you feast on me."

With a satisfied expression on his face, the boy walked towards the nearest gunnel for his fourth attempt at committing suicide.

A week later…...

The boy lay on the ship's weather deck with an expression of dejection etched on his face.

Half eaten raw sea fishes surrounded the boy with a barrel of fresh water right by his side.

One may wonder why the boy was feeling dejected when he was surrounded by such an inviting scene.

The answer to that question was rather simple.

The rope or to be more accurate, the whole ship has been interfering with the boy's attempts to commit suicide throughout the week.

When the boy tried to drown himself, the ship was always on a standby to rescue him.

When the boy tried to harm himself, the ship was always ready to intervene.

When the boy tried to starve himself to death, the ship provided not only food but also fresh water from its hold that for some strange reason had an endless supply of water.

And if the boy decided not to eat, well let's just say what follows is better left unsaid.

That brings us to the boy's current predicament.

The boy sighed as he got up on his feet.

"Looks like my only way out of my misery are the two doors."

The ship for whatever reason did not interfere when he neared both the door of the cabin and the door in the cargo deck.

The boy shook his head.

"The cabin door it is then."

As for the reason why the boy chose the cabin's door instead of the door in the cargo deck, it was because the cabin's door seemed more dangerous and thus a greater chance for the him to die.

The boy easily reached the cabin and opened its door.

Without sparing the darkness a second of his time, the boy walked through it.

The land was black and barren.

The sky was covered with black clouds that were filled with of flashes red lightning.

The world was cold and dark.

And amidst everything stood a white tower, its sheer size was both daunting and incomprehensible.

The tower seemed to be carved out of a bone of a being so vast that the concepts of space and time seemed insignificant.

The white tower stood against the very concept of time as it seemed to exist in the past, present and future.

And thus the tower existed amongst the eternals.

The white tower clashed with the very concept of space as it seemed boundless, endless and limitless.

And thus the tower existed amongst the infinites.

And at the edge of this world was a naked boy.

The boy looked around.

"Where am I?"

That was when a voice, a voice both ancient and inhuman boomed throughout the world.

"Welcome entrant to the Tower of Apotheosis. I, Akhinava, the guardian of the Tower of Apotheosis will be your guide in the path of Apotheo–"

There was a pause.

"You are....naked?"

The boy waved his hand.

"Yes, I am. I advise you to be mindful of the time, death dearest is expecting my presence."

There was a stretch of silence across the world, then the voice boomed once again.

"Okay."
