I don't remember much what happened to me next. Later that night. As I opened my eyes, I found myself somewhere else... Sitting up in a bed, I realized I was back home.
Could I have been dreaming this all along? I wondered, to myself. I turned and looked out my closed curtained window. It was still dark. I don't know how much I had gotten sleep. But whatever woke me up just now, must have some kind of dreadful dream I was never going to have again.
I turned the desk table lamp light on beside my bed. Then, I grabbed my glasses off the storybook beside the lamp on the table. I almost started to walk out of my room, to go use the bathroom.
When suddenly, I stopped and took a look at the storybook again, on my desk table next to my bed. I quickly grabbed the storybook and walked out of my bedroom, wearing my pajamas.
My pink, bunny slippers I wore, started squeaking as I made my way down the dimly lit hallways to make it to my bathroom upstairs. I stopped in the middle of the hallway, as my shadow on the wall, started to raise it's hands in the air, like it was trying to reach out and grab.
I gasped. And quickly turned back to my shadowy reflection on the walls in my upstairs hallway... Just an ordinary shadow again. I sighed and took another deep breath.
Was Grandma still sleeping? I don't see how she could sleep so much when there was a lot going on in Supernaturalville, these days. I wanted to make sure everything would be ready for Grandma's Halloween party this year. It was getting close. And I know Grandma would be excited to have some company over to celebrate a Halloween tradition with some friends.
As I made my way to my bathroom down the hall, I stopped. Because I had a door slam nearby. Holding the magic prayer spellcasting book in my hands, I turned and saw there was somebody hiding in my bathroom.
I could hear sinister laughter echoing in the darkness of the halls. "Who-who's there?" I stammered out loud, to myself. I slowly started to back away from my bathroom in the hall upstairs.
When I continued hearing someone walking around in my bathroom, I knew there must be an intruder in my house. I started to walk down the stairs. To get to my grandparent's bedroom.
Stopped again, halfway down the stairs. The bathroom door squeaked open. Letting in light from the bathroom, I gasped and turned around to look behind me.
"Emma?" I heard my Grandmother's voice say. As she poked her head out from my bathroom upstairs. She stepped out into the dimly lit hallway with concerned look on her face.
I sighed, feeling embarrassed somebody else might be intruding upon us. I walked back up the rest of the stairs. I saw Grandma standing out beside my bathroom.
"Yeah. Grandma, it's me," I said, finally. Feeling relieved I walked over to my Grandmother and gave her a big, welcoming hug. "I woke up from having a really bad dream. And had to go use the bathroom, because I got scared of the dream I was having," I said, honestly.
Grandma nodded and hugged me some more. "I understand, dear child," she said, earnestly. "I couldn't sleep myself, last night. So I thought I'd help you do your laundry today. I notice you haven't been keeping your bathroom cleaned. And wanted to know if you could clean it before I have my Halloween party this weekend with my friends from church?" she asked, politely.
"Yes, I will," I responded. "Sounds like a good deal. I have just been lazy about it, I'm sorry Grandma," I continued. Grandma nodded and gave me another warm hug and kiss on my right cheek.
She grabbed my laundry basket out of my bathroom and walked down the stairs to start helping do my laundry. I watched her disappear down the stairs. Sighing, I realized how hard I was gripping hold of the storybook in my hands. It was getting sweaty and slippery. I almost dropped the book in my hands.
But carefully wiped sweat off my hands on my pajamas. Then, I walked into my lit bathroom. Setting the storybook aside, on top of the closed toilet lid, I turned on the bathroom sink faucet. And started to wash my face with warm water to help wake me up.
When suddenly, I looked up. And screamed with fright! The bathroom lights started flickering on and off. I gasped when I realized I wasn't starring at my own reflection in the bathroom.
There was an image of the Goblin King of Everybody before me in the mirror! I stepped back and almost slipped on my feet. I carefully, maintained my balance. And blinked a couple of times.
The image of the laughing Goblin King of Everybody in my bathroom mirror had vanished into a puff of smoke before me! In the reflection, now was my shocked, ghostly pale face starring back at me.
I was so paralyzed with fear. I quickly grabbed my storybook off the lid of the closed toilet seat. And bolted quickly out of my bathroom, before anything else could happen.
I found Grandma in our basement. Doing my laundry like she promised. And had headphones in her ears, while listening to a prayer group podcast meeting from her church group.
She didn't see me walking down the stairs into the basement to greet her. As Grandma continued humming and meditating along with the podcast she was listening to on her phone, she whirled around quickly. And smacked me across the side of my face!
Realizing it was just me, Grandma took off her headphones and realized how much shock we were both in. "Dear! I'm so sorry! You know you should never sneak up on me. I scare easily, honey," she said, giving me a big, warm hug.
Grabbing hold of my jawed chin, I realized I was going to be bruised later. "It's okay, Grandma," I said. I didn't know how to make this any better. Grandma would never believe me if I told her what's been going on with me, lately.
"Grandma," I began slowly, "I don't like it here in Supernaturalville, anymore. Let's go somewhere for Halloween this year," I said. Grandma wasn't listening. She put her headphones back in her ears and continued listening to her podcast meeting from her church gathering.
"Grandma? Grandma!" It was no use. She wasn't paying attention to me anymore. My Grandmother was busy putting my dirty clothes into the washing machine, tuning me out with headphones in her ears.
"Whatever," I muttered silently to myself, finally. Grabbing hold of my storybook in my hands, I stormed back up the stairs out of our cold, musty basement.
Entering the kitchen, I thought I heard someone walking up the stairs to my bedroom. Was I alone? I thought to myself. Turning to look at the book cover in my hands, I knew I would never be the same after Halloween this year.
Suddenly I heard laughing and horseplaying upstairs. There was definitely somebody else in our house, beside Grandma and me. I couldn't believe this was happening again. If Grandma didn't want to help me get rid of the fairies in the goblin underworld kingdom from making our imaginations becoming all too real, then I shouldn't take my time to believe in stories about them.
I slowly turned to look up the staircase next to our living room, going upstairs to my bedroom. I remained silent. Listening to any signs of movement or hearing voices who didn't belong in this house. Other than my Grandmother and myself.
Then, my bedroom door swung open! The two goblin kids came barreling out into the hallway. Wrestling each other as they fought who gets to keep the glowing purple jewel.
"The power won't do you any good, Harold! Because I'm stronger and older than you are. And can handle the magic from making us all disappear from existence!" the girl goblin, Gretchen was yelling at her little friend, whom she was fighting with.
They continued wrestling in the upstairs hallway. Fighting over who gets to have the glowing, purple jewel for themselves. "Hey!" I shouted as loudly as possible.
The two goblin kids stopped fighting and turned to glare at me with a blank, dumbfounded expression on their faces. "Hey yourself!" they both shouted angrily back at me.
They continued wrestling over each other in the upstairs hallway as they fought over who gets to keep the purple jewel. That's when the glowing purple jewel they both tried grasping from each other, gave them an electrical shock!
Their colorful, wavy hair, stuck up on their heads, smoking from the shock. I realized my right hand was outstretched before me. And soon, the glowing, purple jewel started floating toward me, quickly in my grasp.
I took the floating, glowing purple jewel in my hand. It made me feel tingling and warm spirited all over me. "I can't believe the power will all belong to me!" I said. I started floating in the air.
Holding the glowing purple jewel in my hand, I didn't realize how much supernatural magic was going to never let me have a normal life ever again.
