Chapter 0637: Feng Shui

It was a good idea, but carrying it out wouldn't be easy.

"I possess the Divine Fire Manipulation ability. Let me give it a try—see if I can ignite this grassland and burn it to ashes,"said the middle-aged cultivator Li Tianming. Although he wasn't confident, trying was better than doing nothing. Staying trapped here without knowing what kind of dangers awaited wasn't a good plan.

"Alright, then we'll trouble Daoist Li to make the attempt,"Jiang Ni nodded in agreement.

Whether it worked or not, there was no harm in trying.

"Watch my divine ability—Flame Crow!!"Li Tianming took a deep breath. As he waved his hand, ominous fire crows began to manifest from thin air—each one massive, the size of a wolfhound, spreading fiery wings and radiating fierce flames.

🔥 [Bloodflame Life Aperture — Flame Crow (火鸦)]

There are many variations in fire-type life apertures. Even when two people awaken the same ability, the final power often differs. Ordinary flames can't compare to stronger ones, and Bloodflame was especially terrifying. It could ignite blood directly, and the more blood present, the more intense the fire burned—like blood was gasoline. Even without touching blood, its destructive power was still far greater than ordinary flames.

These flame crows weren't black but blood-red, radiating a terrifying aura. They dove down screeching sharply, scattering waves of blood-colored fire onto the grassland below. Even the moist, green grass ignited easily under the Bloodflame.

The fire began to spread rapidly. Flames leapt and danced across the land.

Huge patches of grassland were reduced to ash.

"It's working! These wild grasses are burning away!"

"Excellent! Once the grassland is reduced to ashes, the danger it poses will be greatly reduced. Daoist Li's Flame Crow is formidable indeed—soaring through the air and burning everything!"

"Burn it! Burn this damned, demonic grassland to the ground!"

Seeing success, the others showed faint smiles of relief.

But Yi Tianxing remained grim.

"If this so-called Devil oasis was really this easy to destroy, it wouldn't be known as a deathtrap. We're not the first to think of this. Yet the oasis is still here, untouched. That means something is wrong."

And indeed—

Whoosh!!

The entire grassland seemed to sense the threat of the fire. A strange sound echoed across the fields as the grass swayed. Thin, eerie gases rose from the greenery, rapidly gathering into a raincloud over the burning land.

Whoosh-la-la!!

A torrential downpour suddenly erupted from the sky, as if someone was dumping water from above. What was more shocking—this rain easily extinguished the Bloodflame.

Normally, water made Bloodflame burn hotter, like fuel to the fire. But this rain was different. The moment it touched the flames, the fire was smothered instantly.

The storm came fast and left just as quickly.

In the blink of an eye, the flames vanished completely, and the scorched earth began to regrow grass visibly, green and lush again—as if the fire had never happened.

Everyone was stunned.

"My Bloodflame… extinguished so easily? What kind of rain is this? That's terrifying!"

"The grass burned to ashes just regrew in seconds. Looks like even destroying a blade of grass here is no simple task."

"What now? Even fire can't wipe out the grassland. How are we supposed to break this deathtrap oasis?"

Fear spread among the group as faces grew grim.

Water and fire—elements most destructive—had failed here. That said everything about the terrifying strangeness of this oasis.

"I don't believe this Devil oasis is so invincible. With our strength, we can't even cut down a tree or blade of grass? Nonsense—cut it down!!"shouted Qin Tian, his face twisted in frustration.

Without hesitation, he exploded into action, unleashing a divine ability.

🌪️ [Blackwind Life Aperture — Summon Wind (呼风)]

A black wind surged forth, filled with sharp wind blades that danced like lightning, slashing toward the forest. The intent was clear—cut down a tree in one blow.

Whoosh!!

But the forest sensed the threat. Countless leaves shot outward like flying daggers, intercepting the wind blades in midair. Though the black wind was fierce—strong enough to grind even stone into powder—it was met by a wall of leaves, forming an impenetrable barrier.

The wind blades were shredded. Not even a single tree was touched.

"Powerful. Incredibly powerful,"Yi Tianxing murmured, nodding silently.

Everything in this oasis seemed alive—aware and intelligent. Destroying this place would not be easy.

"What now? Fire can't burn the grass, and wind can't cut the forest. Are we really just going to die here?"Song Yuting said pale-faced, fear evident in her voice. Her hope for escape was dwindling.

"No,"Jiang Ni finally spoke, a raspy yet confident voice cutting through the tension."I believe our method is the right one. If this oasis wasn't vulnerable, it wouldn't have reacted so strongly. The moment we struck the key points, it reacted defensively. That proves we found its weakness. The only reason we failed… is because our power wasn't strong enough."

He had been observing everything carefully.

"True,"Qin Tian admitted, his tone frustrated."But even if we know where to strike, what's the point if we lack the strength to break through?"

"Daoist Jiang,"Yi Tianxing turned to him."You've been watching this whole time. Do you have something in mind? Speak freely."

He had noticed Jiang Ni's unusual demeanor—his strange aura and the way he observed everything silently, as though calculating.

"Daoist Yi,"Jiang Ni said, locking eyes with him."Are you familiar with Feng Shui?"

"Feng Shui? You mean the art of geomancy? The study of earth's patterns?"Yi Tianxing's gaze sharpened.

"Exactly. Feng Shui, the way of nature. Geomancy to seek dragon veins, burial techniques to draw Yin energy—capable of blessing descendants with fortune for generations,"Jiang Ni explained calmly.'Qi rides the wind and stops at water. The ancients knew this—gather the wind to prevent dispersal, stop it with water to seal fortune. Hence, it was called Feng Shui. The method values water above all, wind second. With proper Feng Shui, one can avoid misfortune and attract good luck.'

"Feng Shui exists everywhere—in stars, in mountains, in rivers, in thunder, in all natural things. It's the force of the world itself. But what you see is only the surface."

"Please, go on."Yi Tianxing said.

"Feng Shui is the power of nature, the force of Heaven and Earth. Feng Shui can manipulate those forces, shift the balance of the world. While formations (阵法) can reshape the world, even they stem from Feng Shui."

"Feng Shui is the natural formation of Heaven and Earth—it draws on the world's inherent power. Formations are artificial; Feng Shui is natural law. Formations can change fate—Feng Shui can rewrite it."

"One's fate is said to depend on: destiny, luck, and Feng Shui. That makes Feng Shui one of the three pillars that govern life."

He paused and then pointed toward the lake before them.

"This oasis... may very well be a massive Feng Shui formation. Every blade of grass, every tree, every body of water here is part of it. The real key lies not in the grass or forest—but in that lake. That water is more dangerous than anything we've faced."

Jiang Ni's voice was solemn as he gazed intently at the lake.

"I see."Yi Tianxing looked at him meaningfully, then nodded."Very well—then I'll destroy this lake."

A flash of light appeared in his hand—a treasure tower emerged.

With a flick, he sent the tower into the air, where it hovered above the lake and then plunged downward.

As it touched the water, it instantly released an immense suction force.
