Path of Ashes

A tormented soul, unaware of how long it has lived, how many times it has died, how much it has suffered, how much it has lost. That soul, which for a moment believed it had freed itself from the chains of pain, only to return and discover that every step was but an illusion. When it thought it had survived, reality came to shake its very core and destroy what little remained.



After cries of call, after pleas that were met with silence, where words scattered in the air, laden with longing and a need for a hope still far away. No one answered. No help, no mercy, only the darkness that surrounded it at every corner. What was it asking for? Perhaps it sought relief from an endless pain, perhaps it sought death to grant it stillness... but, is there a place for peace in this cruel world?



After a solitary, hopeless pain, the world seemed to gaze upon it with sorrow. As if it pitied it, or perhaps it was destined for even more suffering.



But what is this, if not the end of one path and the beginning of a new one?



And the goal?



Who knows...

We’ll begin with the Path of Ashes, which, as you may have noticed, shares its name with the title of the novel.
