Chapter 8

Ainsley's POV...

“Techno, you came here with one of the vans right?” I ask Techno when I’m finally outside with the two little raven haired angels and he nods.

“Good because I need you to bring my baby back in one piece, ’coz I gotta stay with these angels.” I say, tossing him the keys to my Harley.

“I find one scratch on her and you’re dead, got it?” I ask and he grins as he answers.

“Sure thing Flame, I’ll make sure to bring her back safely. And it would be a shame to scratch a beauty like this one.”

“Good, and remember Tech. Dead man if there’s so much as a scratch on her.” I threaten him one last time as I get into the van with the little angels.

“So, what are your names girls?” I ask them once I feel that we’re in motion and the bigger one answers.

“I’m Raven and this is my sister Robin.” She says holding her sister’s hand.

“And how old are you girls?” I ask again, hoping that I can get as much information out of her as I can before we get to the Broken Skulls clubhouse. I’ll ask Techno to do a little digging on them to find out if it’s safe to send them back home and so help me God, if they’re not safe with their mother they will not be going anywhere at all.

“I’m fifteen and Robin is thirteen. Our egg donor's name is Dióna Fouché.” Raven says in a small shaking voice and I notice that both girls’ lower lips start to tremble at the mention of their mother. That bitch did something bad to them and I’ll be damned if I let them go back there.

“It’s okay babies, you’re both safe now and I won’t let anyone hurt you again, not even your mother okay?” I say to them while giving them both a gentle hug.

Once we finally arrive at the clubhouse, I take the little angels inside to find them something to eat. Mrs Mcdonald sees us and immediately rush over to us.

“Oh my, just look at you precious angels.” She softly says and I’m grateful that she didn’t try and hug them. Who knows how they might respond and it seems that she noticed how they hid behind me when she came walking up to us.

“It seems that these two angels have latched onto me, but we might need your help in finding the kitchen Mrs Mc D. I think that these little birds are hungry and I would like to feed them before I get them cleaned up if you don’t mind mam.” I say and she nods at us.

“Of course honey, just follow me. We’ll get these beauties fed and cleaned in no time and then maybe you girls can come and help me feed and change little Scarlet, what do you girls say?” She asks and they look at me confused.

“Scarlet-Rose is my baby girl. She’ll be a month old tomorrow and you girls are more than welcome to go with Mrs Mcdonald. You girls are safe with her, I promise.” I tell them and they both nod.

“So, how would you girls like some toasted cheese and hot chocolate?” Mrs Mcdonald asks and they shyly nod their heads yes.

“Okay sweeties, if you’d like anything else I want you girls to tell me alright?” She says and I can see them relaxing around her.

“I’ll be right back.” I mouthed over their heads at her and she subtly nods.

“Techno, I know that technically I have no right to ask you this since I’m not part of the club, but I really need you to find out everything you can about a woman named Dióna Fouché and her daughters Raven and Robin Fouché.” I tell him and he looks at me confused.

“The two girls that have latched onto me, Raven and Robin. Raven said some things about their mother which has me concerned for their safety if we send them back to her.” I say just to clarify and he nods.

“I’ll get the information to you as soon as possible.” He says before he disappears down the hall.

I let out a soft sigh once he’s gone. “Tough night sis?” I hear Elspeth ask and let out a small shriek. “Shite! You scared me Elsie!” I say to her, catching my breath and she completely surprises me with her next words.

“I don’t think you should send Raven and Robin back to their mother. They never said much other than their names, but I have a feeling that their mother was a willing participant in their disappearance because whenever the subject of mothers and our families came up both girls would clam up and refuse to speak any further.” She says and it’s clear to me that Elspeth already has a soft spot for the little birds.

“Let’s go check up on them and make sure they’re settled. They should be all cleaned up by now, which means that they’re probably helping Mrs Mcdonald with Scarlet-Rose. Would you like to meet your niece?” I ask her and she nods, tears streaming down her face.

“I’m so sorry I wasn’t there for you. And yes I’d like to meet my niece.” She says and we head off in search of my girls.

Before we enter the room that they designed for the children, I hug her. “You have nothing to apologise for because it was out of your control. If anything, I’m the one who needs to apologise for not finding you sooner.” I whisper to her as we walk inside.

Once I’ve introduced her to Scarlet, Elspeth settles on a bean bag, with Scarlet in her lap, ready to read all the children a story. I smile at the scene before me as I spot Techno waving me over.

“I’ll be right back sis.” I whisper in her ear before heading over to techno.

“What have you found Tech?” I immediately ask him when I stop right in front of him and he smiles sadly.

“It seems those little birds have had a rough life so far. The mother, Dióna is a drug addict who sells her body for her next fix. She would only give them something to eat every four days and her most recent evil deed would be her actually selling her children to pay for her next fix.” He says and I look at him in shock.

“Wait, there’s more. The girls actually have an older brother named Christopher and he was sold to the same people they were, but since he wasn’t with them I’m assuming that they decided to keep him and maybe even teach him the tricks of the trade. We’ve already started a search for him,because we need to get that kid out of there before their influence takes hold.” As he says this, I make up my mind.

“There is no fucking way in hell I’m sending these girls back to that evil bitch! What kind of mother would do this to her children? The second you find their brother, I’m taking him home with me and the girls, we will figure out a safe place to send them once they are all together again. Hopefully someplace where they won't be split up again ” I say, my rage reaching boiling point and I punch the wall.

Heading outside, I call my dad. The phone rings a few times and I hear his gruff voice in my ear when he answers it. “Mc Ghee.” He says and I break.

“Daddy, you need to be on the first plane out here. We’ve found her! Daddy, we’ve finally found Elspeth.” I say and I hear him drop the phone as he starts crying.
