Chapter 28: Enemy in the Server

Morning – Student Council Room, Daehan International School

Gevran stood before the projector in the student council's meeting room. On the screen, graphs and lists of suspicious accounts lit up—accounts that had been rapidly spreading slander and inciting conflicts between students, teachers, even parents.

"The number of cloned accounts has increased by 300% in the last two days," explained Min Soojin, pointing at the network patterns. "But they're using foreign VPNs. The school's security system isn't enough."

Han Jimin clenched her fists. "If this keeps up, the school's credibility will collapse. Parents might start pulling their kids out."

Rhea, who had been quietly observing, finally spoke. "We need outside help. But not just any help."

Gevran nodded. "We need White Owl."

The room fell silent.

Afternoon – Secret Computer Room, Old Library

White Owl was the alias of a brilliant young hacker who had once helped Gevran during the early days of his investigation into school corruption. Very few knew their true identity. But one thing was certain: White Owl stood for the truth.

Gevran accessed a hidden terminal. The screen flickered, then displayed a single sentence:

> "You're late. I've been working on this for three days."

A small smile crept onto Gevran's face.

> "Then take me to the source."

---

Evening – Beyond the Firewall

With White Owl's help, Gevran and his team managed to breach one of the main servers where the fake accounts were being deployed. The primary IP address traced back to a foreign consulting firm—ironically, one that had previously sponsored school events.

"This isn't just students or alumni," Daisuke muttered. "This… is an outside agenda."

Han Jimin stared at the screen, horrified. "They're trying to sabotage Korea's international education system from the inside."

Gevran stood firm. His face was calm, but his eyes burned with resolve.

> "If they want to destroy the future from behind the screen, then I'll tear every screen down—and expose who they really are."

---

Night – Yi Family Residence

Kaeyan and Kasang sat watching the evening news. One station had begun reporting rumors of hacking incidents targeting elite schools. They didn't know their brother was fighting at the center of it all.

Yi-Ana sat behind them, staring blankly at the TV. She knew… the storm wasn't over yet.

---

> Attacks no longer come from the front—but from cables, networks, and false names.

But as long as truth exists, someone will always stand to protect it.

And Gevran… will never stay silent.

Late Night – White Owl's Secure Virtual Lab

Within a quarantined digital space, Gevran, White Owl, and Soojin floated inside a virtual reality-coded interface—an illusion of a glass city built entirely of data.

"This is the root zone," White Owl explained. Their voice was scrambled, and their avatar resembled an owl perched atop shifting code. "Every compromised node funnels through here. If we sever this—every false narrative collapses."

Soojin examined a data spike. "There's a beacon hidden inside this server. It's broadcasting to other schools across Asia. Not just Daehan."

White Owl expanded a window. "Targeted chaos. They're planting mistrust in every elite institution that stands for reform."

> "But why education?" Gevran asked.

The reply came quickly:

> "Because if you break the schools, you break the next generation. No soldiers. No thinkers. Just noise."

Gevran's jaw tightened. "Then it ends here."

Suddenly, warning sirens screamed in the virtual space. The city of data around them began to distort—walls collapsing, code unraveling.

White Owl snapped around. "Someone's here. They found us."

A new figure materialized: a tall, glitching humanoid form. Its face was blank. Its name tag read: [Administrator – Level Ω]

> "You shouldn't be here, Gevran Yi."

It launched a digital attack.

White Owl pushed Soojin and Gevran behind a shield of code. "Go! I'll buy you five seconds to reach the kill switch!"

> "You're insane!" Gevran shouted.

"I'm already in too deep," White Owl grinned. "So don't waste my time."

---

Physical World – Secret Computer Room, Old Library

The server room lights flickered. Sparks flew as the firewall surge caused a momentary shutdown.

Gevran yanked a physical drive from the terminal and slammed it into the core unit.

> "Initiating Protocol 819—Execute Full Reset."

The fans roared.

Soojin shouted over the chaos, "White Owl's signature is vanishing!"

Gevran didn't look back. "They knew the cost."

Then—silence. One by one, the fake accounts went dark. Bots deactivated. The slanderous posts disappeared in real time. The screen glowed green:

> "Server breach neutralized. Root protocol destroyed."

---

Minutes Later – Rooftop of Daehan International

Gevran stood alone, wind brushing through his hair. His phone buzzed. One final encrypted message from White Owl:

> "You made the right call. I'll be around. Watching. Protecting truth, like always.

Until the next lie appears—

-Owl"

He stared at the screen for a long time, then looked up to the Seoul skyline, dotted with lights and rising towers.

> "We saved the school. But the war's only shifting."
