Chapter 74 – Small Steps

A few weeks had passed since the viral speed dating event. Campus life had returned to normal. Slowly but surely, so had Gevran.

There were no dramatic changes. Just small steps. But they were enough.

He started attending classes again, glanced at his startup group chat for the first time in weeks, and—most surprisingly to his G-Force friends—he joined the university's anti-bullying organization.

That day, Gevran stood in front of a plain door with a sign: Anti-Bullying Committee – Seoul University.

He took a deep breath and walked in.

The room wasn't fancy. A meeting table, a whiteboard, and some worn-out pamphlets. Only one person was inside—a girl, busy typing something on her laptop.

She had long hair tied to the side and a serious but naturally soft face. She looked focused, filling out an online form. She didn't notice him come in.

"Hey. Is this the anti-bullying club?" Gevran asked gently.

She looked up and smiled politely. "Yeah. You just joined too?"

"Yeah," Gevran replied, walking over to sit beside her. "I'm Gevran."

Her expression shifted slightly. "Wait… the Gevran?"

He sighed. "Unfortunately, yes."

"Haha. I'm Seol-Vi," she said, offering a handshake. "I just joined last week."

From that day forward, they kept meeting. Not out of obligation, but because they felt… at ease around each other. While senior members were busy, Gevran and Seol-Vi often ended up working together on small campaign tasks.

Seol-Vi turned out to be smart and thoughtful. She liked talking about the flaws in the education system and had fresh ideas about promoting empathy among students.

That day, they were brainstorming digital poster content. Gevran arrived early with two cups of coffee in hand.

"For you," he said, placing one in front of her.

She raised an eyebrow. "Do you bring coffee for every new member, or am I special?"

He grinned. "You're the only new member who actually shows up."

They laughed.

As time passed, they began learning more about each other. Seol-Vi had moved from Busan and had experienced bullying too, though she didn't like talking about her past.

"I focus more on what I can fix now," she once said.

Gevran nodded. He understood that feeling deeply.

He wasn't thinking about love. His heart was still recovering. But… for the first time in a long while, he didn't feel alone.

And for him, that was a small step that meant everything.

---

A few days after Gevran and Seol-Vi became actively involved in the committee, an official announcement arrived.

An email was sent to all members:

> [OFFICIAL NOTICE]

Due to the graduation of our previous Anti-Bullying Committee President, the position is now open. Active members with strong commitment are invited to apply and present themselves in next week's general meeting.

Gevran stared at the message on his phone. His eyes drifted toward the window, recalling what his father had told him weeks ago:

"Don't rise just for yourself. Rise so you can lift others with you."

The next day, during their small meeting, Seol-Vi glanced sideways at him.

"You saw the announcement about the new president, right?"

Gevran nodded. "Yeah."

"Are you going to apply?"

He didn't answer immediately. But deep inside… something stirred. Not ambition, exactly—but purpose. A pull to serve those who had once been in the same darkness he had known.

"I'm not sure yet," he replied honestly. "But I'm thinking about it."

That night, back in his dorm, Gevran opened his laptop and began jotting down ideas for campaigns—not to impress, not for a title, but for a cause. The life mission he had committed to ever since he got his second chance.

Outside, Seoul was buzzing like always. But inside, for the first time in a while, a quiet fire had been rekindled.

A small step turning into purpose.
