Chapter 5. Imperfect first impressions
It took give or take three hours before Gislea and Njax regained consciousness. When they did awaken though they were in quite the bizarre place. They were in a carriage being pulled by a horse which by no surprise was a shock to the two who were previously laying on the cobblestone streets of Tyneside. They looked around seeing they were surrounded by massive bags of brioche, butter and sugar as well as cans of bug spray, deodorant and reinforced ropes clearly meant to hold gorillas back. At the front sat AL guiding the horse to move them in the correct direction though the two didn't recognise him as the infamous criminal just yet.
"Who the hell are you?" Gislea asked as she walked over to AL preparing to cut him down if he didn't answer. Though she wouldn't get the chance to as he turned to look at the two.
"I am AL." He said in a prim and proper voice.
"HA! AL!? and I thought school boy over there had a ridiculous name! What are you pretending to be the squire AL to scare your kidnapping victims into being silent?" Gislea mocked
Without a word AL pulled his sabre from its holster before saying its name "Sabbath"
As he said its name Njax gazed at the sabre seeing the ancient runes that had glowed on the blade.
"Second prince of Highrullia." Njax uttered in total awe as he translated the runes. "Highrullia is real..."
"So you understand my native tounge. Interesting." AL stated taking a mental note about Njax as he looked at the boy seeing something oddly familiar in him
Chapter 6. The world
AL turned to the two and spoke in an oddly gentle voice. "I am sorry for this young ones but I cannot allow you to return to your lives. You are both wanted criminals now."
Njaxs face went pale hearing this. A criminal?! How?! He hadn't done anything! Gislea on the other hand wasn't phased by this life altering news.
"So you got a plan for us or something? I doubt school boy wants to be on the streets." Gislea asked curiously. "I mean you wouldn't just take two innocent teens and throw them in your carriage if you didn't."
"One innocent teen beating a doctor half to death disqualifies you as innocent" AL retorted before speaking again. "I will take you two back to my base of operations. You'll be given adequate training to survive this world and will have the protection of the strongest force in the world"
"Gravity will protect us?" Njax asked
"No. Orpheus Foxmun" AL spoke before turning back to the road.
The three sat in silence for a while watching as they began to pass through the ever dark plains, a plains split in two by a giant man made mountain built for the gods of the sun and of the moon respectively. One side was in eternally lit with bright sunlight and the other was in eternal darkness. The fields glowed with bright blue plants that glowed in the pitch black grass that covered the ground, small blue glowing bugs crawled between the blades of grass making the individual blades glow blue for a moment as they scuttled away from the larger creatures lurking in the pitch black sea of grass. On the opposite side of the mountain that split the plains was the ever light plains. It was eternal land were the sun never set making it eternally bright. Lurking in each was two beasts known as the twin serpents of the moon and sun. Both giant snakes that were the servants of the sun god Suraya, who would slither through their plains searching for any threats to there master.
"So let me ask, since no one will." Gislea spoke shattering the eerie silence. "How is a harmless old codger like yourself valued at a hundred million?"
AL took a moment tor respond. "Assisting Orpheus. You see I am his legal guardian. Well current legal guardian. In truth before taking in Orpheus I had a bounty of a minute £10,000 but in nursing him back to health after the "divine massacre" I was bumped up to £100,000,000"
"You nursed that devil back to health? So you are the reason the one who killed a thousand gods in one day still plagues us. I see. You're a fool truly." Gislea spoke stunned at ALs stupidity.
"Most address me as such but I do not take it to heart. I am a follower of his ideas and I know no one better to achieve my goal." AL replied humbly not attempting to dismiss his sons evils.
"Goal? What goal is that?" Njax spoke up timidly.
AL spoke once more in a serious tone that held no jest. "To eradicate the divine and to liberate humanity from the gods that we have shackled ourselves to."
Chapter 7. K.A.G Kill all gods
"You want to kill all gods?!" Njax spoke in pure shock.
"There are no gods. Only posers taking the names of gods of mythology and using their stolen identities to control the masses." AL replied. "There has only ever been two real gods. Lucifer and Gabriel. Gabriel the creator made the universe and the bodies of what would become people. Lucifer the story maker imputed life into these bodies."
Gislea looked up at AL. "So the rest are frauds? Sounds like my old man was right."
"Ah Geralt Edo. That's your father yes? He's raised you with the truth I see. Glad to see life hasn't softened him" AL spoke. His voice was full of reminiscing of an old friend.
Most would bat an eye at the fact this stranger knew her father but not Gislea who was used to her bedamned father having peculiar friends
As Njax sat in the back confused as to ALs motives trying to wrap his head around what he had said. Killing all gods was such a bizarre thing to him. How could somebody even want to do something like that to the kind deities that always protected and blessed earth. Then the other thing liberating humanity from gods. What reason was their to do so? Humanity was treat with nothing but kindness by the gods. How could one be so cruel but then again this guy followed the devil so it all made sense.
As Njax came to terms Gislea had a thought. "So you aren't evil then. All that stuff on the news is all fake, sounds about right. Allow me to make a guess. Bounties aren't based on your crimes all the time."
"Well done. That is correct. Bounties in special occasions are based on the threat a person holds to the gods. Mine is based on my ability to dispatch the divine in post haste without a drop of their blue blood being spilled. Orisuki possesses knowledge that could destroy the gods of asgard which added on with the knowledge she has of the sun god Suraya's true nature her bounty was made the £100,000,000 it is today."
"And what of Orpheus?" Gislea responded.
"His bounty is different. He is guilty of the genocide of 998 gods and the kidnapping of one Daniel Cooper but he mainly is wanted for his knowledge on the factions time has been paid to forget and those higher then the mere possers. Orpheus gained his title as devil from the simple fact that he knows exactly how to destroy the current society and to break the shackles of humanity."
"What's he like then? My dad used to talk about an Orphy he used to know" Gislea asked.
"A pain in the ass" A new voice spoke. it was a rough feminine voice that was muffled slightly.
Chapter 8. Huntress Orisuki
As Gislea turned to meet the voice she saw a tall woman wielding a hammer that clearly had just been used to whack Njax on the head with judging by the fact he was on the ground with his dagger in hand just behind AL clearly about to stab him before this new woman appeared. She wore a chainmail shirt with a sleeveless leather jacket over top, a pair of black trousers and a long braided pony tail to top it off. As she examined Gislea's unbothered expression whilst she stuffed handfuls of brioche into her mouth while she tried to figure out who these random kids were.
As the woman finished her loaf she groaned and turned to AL with a disappointed look.
"Not again you blithering idiot..." She said while rubbing her temples
AL responded in a timid voice "Ha... Yup. Did it again Ori."
Upon hearing that name "Ori" Gislea figured out who the woman was. She was Orisuki the huntress.
"Is Orphy lurking nearby?" AL asked Orisuki as she made her hammer dematerialise.
"Hell if I know" Orisuki responded with crumbs spilling off her chin as she grabbed a new loaf of brioche, ripping the packaging off it before stuffing handfuls of it down her mouth.
As Orisukis eye swept around she surveyed Gislea once more. She gazed at her for a moment almost like she was looking directly at her soul. Gislea returned her stare slightly annoyed at the stranger staring at her.
"Damn. Her energy is awfully familiar no? reminds me of those dusters Orphy uses though its missing the repugnant stench of his." Orisuki spoke with chunks of brioche still stuffed in her cheeks.
AL gave a knowing nod before turning back to look at them. "Ori. This might seem a little dramatic but I think its best we show the kids what we are fighting against. Possibly its for the best that Njax here sees what these "merciful gods" actually look like behind the screens and paintings."
Gislea's ears perked up as she heard this. Seeing a god in person was something she was always curious about and now the opportunity was arising for it.
Orisuki simply nodded before speaking. "Harvest festival is on in a couple days meaning Demeter will be on the move. Sycle hands will probably be a good wake up call to the divines nature."
Chapter 9.Wild hunt.
It'd been roughly 3 hours of quiet in the carriage since AL chose to divert there path from New Foxden to Demeter's last known location. As they travelled AL sat in silence attempting to pick up even the slightest hint of the harvest gods energy. He tracked the energy in the wind as the horses pulled the carriage through the black grass seeing if it held remnants of divine power those his efforts were fruitless for the current moment.
Njax, who still unconscious, was tied to the side wall of the carriage keeping him from attempting to harm anyone when he awakened. Gislea and Orisuki were sat in the back chattering about things.
"If I may why is it you are called Huntress?" Gislea asked with a look of curiosity as she saw the older woman cleaning the crumbs out of the crevices of her jacket.
"Its the name of my innate technique." Orisuki responded "Huntress. It allows me to put a marking on a targets energy. No matter in the world they run to or how little the traces are I'll find the target. Granted I don't fall asleep first that removes it."
Gislea looked in awe at the revelation though there was a slight insecurity in her look. Orisuki spotted this in an instant and took a look at Gisleas sabre examining it and realising the truth AL had noticed as well. The sabre she gripped so close wasn't hers and to make it worse there was no weapon manifestable from her soul. Ori scratched her chin never seeing anything like it, Gisleas soul energy levels were so high they nearly matched Orpheus's, How could one posses such energy yet have a weapon attached to it.
As Ori was about to ask Gislea the name of her weapon the carriage swerved aggressively turning in one direction sharply. Annoyed by this Ori marched to the front to give AL an earful but before she could speak she was made to understand why AL changed direction so suddenly. She felt Demeter's energy. With a sharp yell she called the name of her weapon as it appeared in her hand "MJÖLNIR!"
With her hammer in hand Ori slammed on the tiny remnants of the harvest gods energy, from this her innate technique manifested a green glow in the distance. She had marked Demeter, now the hunt begins. The horses sped up as AL ordered charging straight to the vibrant green glow that shone through the pitch black terrain of the ever dark plain. The glow was formless, merely a vibrant green blob of light that shone in the pitch black that surrounded them as they rode on wards.
As they rode onwards Gislea sat and pondered about Orisukis words. She reminded her of Orpheus. How was the issue. Sure Gislea fought dirty and wasn't against using unholy methods to get her way but to be compared to the worlds devil of all people made no sense. Orpheus was supposedly this inhuman monster that slaughtered titans and gods all the same with no issues and yet this girl without a weapon attached to her name was supposedly like him in someway. How could that be possible and just who the hell is Orpheus Foxmun.
Chapter 10. Stables
It took three hours for our unruly group to get close enough to Demeter for Orisukis huntress mark to change. Now instead of a blob of green light it was starting to take form. Cycles could be made out from the faint shape of the new form, as could four long legs. Njax finally woke up to be greeted by the front face of Orisukis hammer in his face. He tried to run but it was futile, the binds he was in were too strong for his frail arms to break out off.
"Welcome back shit eater." Orisuki said with venom in her tone. "Gonna try killing that old bastard again? I get why I mean that old fart is annoying as hell but he's our comrade ya dig? So put your little dagger away and be a good punk, got it?"
Njax nodded shamefully. "I'm sorry. I had my reasons but no reasons make murder acceptable."
Orisuki held back laughter "Oh yeah? What's that? Cause you wanna protect your oppressors? Trust me lad kissing the ass of the slave master isn't gonna get you whipped any gentler"
Ori then gestured towards Gislea who came over and untied Njax. The two women helped the ashamed Njax up and showed him the glow of Orisuki's huntress mark letting him see the form of Demeter. He instantly shoved out of the grip and flung himself back as if he had seen something much worse.
"What the hell was that!? It looked like a giant mantis!" Njax yelled to the surprise of Gislea and Orisuki. What did he mean by "Giant mantis" those two could only see the vague shape of a cycle and the form of multiple legs. AL who had been silent up to the point had a look of realisation in his eyes before it disappeared quick as he concealed the knowledge he had just gained.
As the three in the back pondered each others reaction AL noted down three things. The first was that there was two familiar energies in the same direction as Demeter though one was overpowering the other quite a lot as if to hide the other from detection. The second was that the they hadn't encountered the guardian of the ever dark plains, the moon devouring serpent. Finally that they were approaching a town where the two familiar energies were as well as Demeter. It was a restocking town in the eclipse zone of the twin plains named stables. The eclipse zone was the only place in the two plains that had a normal day and night cycle.
As they road down the path into stables AL sat and pondered the second note he made. That serpent would have caught them or been seen by now at least. The fact it hadn't was worrying to the old man as he rode further down the path passing signs and only paying attention to one. It was an advertisement for an event in the town centre in the theatre hall. The harvest god would be answering the questions of mortals whilst her team stopped to restock for her harvest blessing in the capital. Seeing this was tonight AL suddenly sped the horses up knocking Gislea and Orisuki off their feet with the sudden speed change. Orisuki flung her hammer at AL in a fury
"WHAT WAS THAT FOR YOU OLD BASTARD! I SHOULD CAVE YOUR HEAD OPEN FOR THAT!" Orisuki yelled at AL as she paid no attention to the town they were approaching.
AL said nothing before brandishing his sword in the blink of an eye. On it was a paper leaflet containing the advertisement he had seen on a passing sign. He tossed it back into the carriage for Orisuki to catch and examine. Once she read it she walked over to AL and smacked him on the shoulder
"You've really gotta announce these things Old man" She said with a sigh. "You're unusually quiet. Like you've seen a ghost"
"Ha... Its nothing. Truly just nothing" AL said as they passed through a massive hole in the mountains that lead to stables. It was buzzing with thick energy towards the centre and reeked of blood. The hole was roughly the size of a large freighter ship splitting the mountains opening up a new path.
"That wasn't here last time." Orisuki said knowingly "Its got Orpheus's energy on it plus another. Feels like yours but older and angrier."
"Those two clashed here. Chances are Orpheus is still stables currently as well as Cooper. Chances are he brought the kid out with him." AL spoke nervously but gaining a bitterness as he continued. "As for the other party. He's probably fled again just like he always does."
Chapter 11. Long ranged healing.
Within five minutes the group arrived in stables and dismounted the carriage to roam around the city.
"We meet at the opera house at 7pm." AL said as he pointed at the advertisement, emphasising the 7pm opening time.
With that the four split up. Gislea went out to explore with her blade at her hip. She'd search for a doctor whilst she had free time to continue her search for a cure for overkillius. As she wandered around she spotted a young man crouched on the side of the path. He was tending to an elderly man who's leg was gushing with blood from a stab wound. The mans skin was a dark mahogany with a long pony tail made of dreadlocks that bounced around as he moved diligently got to work stitching the wound. He wore a armoured vest on top of a blue polo shirt, black cargo shorts with a stun gun on the side.
"There you are lad. Good as new. Get yourself to a hospital and they finish my work." The young man said charmingly. He had an American accent with little flickers of a Jamaican accent creeping through.
The old man nodded and thanked the young man before walking slowly to the clinic on the end of the street.
"Nice save." Gislea spoke as she put her hand on her blades hilt and slid it back into its sheath disguising it as a musket. "You a doctor?"
The young man turned around with a warm and charismatic smile on his face. "Yup. Got a wound you need fixed up lady?" The man replied getting his tools ready.
"Nah... just looking for some medical advise. Have you any knowledge on how to cure a disease named Overkillius?" Gislea said getting ready to attack him if he said it wasn't real just like all the others had done so.
"Cant say I've seen that one in my years. Possibly you are mistaken." The man said stepping back seeing the but off the fake musket coming down on him.
Out of nowhere a flaming blue bullet shot at the body of Gisela's fake musket sending it flying out of her hands. The man Infront of her then looked up seeing a figure on the roof top wearing a black hood put away something that looked like a riffle. He smiled towards the figure as it walked away into the distance before he turned back to Gislea. He grabbed his stun gun and just before he could hit Gislea with it a familiar blade blocked the shot from hitting the reckless swordswoman. It was AL.
AL looked at the man before sighing. "Apologies son. This one gets over head to quick."
"So I assume Orpheus is around here somewhere? I mean he defiantly followed you out here for your safety, am I wrong Cooper?" AL followed up with before lowering his blade. "Gislea. This is Daniel Cooper, our sniper and doctor. Cooper this is Gislea one of our recent entrants to the cause."
Gislea grunted before extended her hand for a handshake. "I apologise for my recklessness."
"Not a bother lass. So a second swordsmen eh? Didn't figure you the type to take on an apprentice old guy." Cooper said as he shook Gisleas hand.
"Wait. AL you said that he's a doctor and a sniper? How's that work? Isn't that kind of pointless since he'll be to far away from you all to help in battle." Gislea asked.
Before Gislea could get an answer Cooper raised his hand up before shouting the name of his weapon. "HALF LIFE!". As he did a sniper rifle formed in his hands. It was leaking a green sludge like energy from its chamber which stopped as he pulled the loading mechanism. He took aim at the man he just assisted before firing a bullet at him. As the bullet hit it exploded into a gas that instantly healed the mans stitched up wounds. As the wound healed a black gas travelled over into the magazine of the riffle.
"Long ranged healing!" Cooper said before dematerialising his riffle. "Cool aint it?"
AL and Gislea clapped at the sight.
"Half life eh? What's with the gas that came off him?" Gislea asked
"That'd be his technique. You see Coopers sniper has no way of doing damage on its own as its bullets release healing gas on impact. Whilst his technique works by taking the entirety of the pain that an injury he heals would have ever caused and converting it into radiation based bullets he can switch too firing." AL spoke up
Cooper nodded "Excellently put AL. Though to answer you, Yeah Orpheus is here. He's at the Opera house at the moment plotting which point of entry would be the most dramatic."
AL sighed and then chuckled "That's how I know you aren't lying. That's definitely something he'd do. Have you anything do Cooper? If not you're welcome to join us for a walk."
"Aye why not." Cooper responded "My to do list is empty now."
AL, Gislea and Cooper spent the next couple hours wandering the streets. As they wandered Cooper would fire the occasional shot at folks on the streets who looked hurt. His aim was impeccable never missing a single shot despite the constant moving. He gained a massive amount of ammunition from this simple act of kindness so could it be called selfless or not is questionable.
Chapter 12. Demeter
7pm arrived and all parties were accounted for. Orisuki walked up to the grand doors of the theatre with Njax behind her with a massive sack of bread in his hands, the sack was heavy clearly from the way he was trembling, despite this he carried on. Shortly after ALs group arrived. Gislea carried her freshly cleaned blade in her hands still in awe of how shiny the it was, AL was happily chattering with Cooper as they walked. Finally the five arrived at the meeting point after dropping their respective purchases in the carriage. The green glow of Orisukis huntress mark pulsed behind the grand entrance telling her Demeter was present.
"Seems Orphy is already inside" Orisuki spoke as she looked at the grand doors that were slowly opening up as the time had began for the show.
"Any idea when the devil will descend?" Cooper asked as he walked forward followed by the rest of the group.
"Probably at the moment where he can steal all the spot light" AL replied as gave Orisuki a nudge.
Orisuki knowing what that nudge meant began looking around for families with children. As the group walked through she would steal tickets for event from the pockets of the families knowing their children wouldn't see the horrid sight that was the true form of Demeter and how she would be left after Orpheus made his appearance.
Gislea examined the grand entrance of the theatre hall. Only one show was ever on a night, traditionally saved for mega budget plays for the sun gods entertainment. Though political events and award shows were also hosted here as well. Her father told her about this theatre many a time describing a comedian he had seen here one time with her late mother. He'd also mention it during his drunk rants against the divine mentioning how he had a glance at the sun god Suraya's true form deeming it "Undefined" and "An abomination for all the sun stood for" whatever that meant.
With a lot of shoving through devoted followers of Demeter the group eventually got themselves seated. The theatres luxuries continued as the seats were made of the finest silk available, which you'd consider the bare minimum for how expensive the tickets would have been if their tickets weren't stolen in an act of mercy. The group was dispersed within the rows of seats to not draw attention to themselves. Gislea was sat on the bottom row with the closest view, Njax was sat in the middle rows in the left side, Orisuki was on the second highest row ready to dive onto the stage, Cooper was in one of the VIP boxes with his sniper concealed in his shirt and AL was sat two rows behind Gislea ready to assist her if anything went array.
As everyone was ready Cooper kept his eyes open attempting to even get a glimpse of Orpheus to get any idea of what he was planning to do. He'd not have to wait long as he'd catch the smallest reflection off something metal moving around on the batten. He instantly recognised they were Orpheus's boots more specifically the steel reinforcements he had placed on them. With Orpheus found Cooper breathed a sigh of relief before getting ready to watch the show.
Within minutes the stage lights sprang to life before the curtains closed. When they reopened a lone woman stood on the stage stood under the stage lights. She wore a green robe with golden stitching of fruits and vegetables patterning it. She opened her eyes and spoke in a power full and booming voice.
"Greetings mortals of this day and age. I am Demeter your mighty goddess of the harvest. As I prepare for the festivities in the capital I have gracefully given only my most loyal subjects the ability to gain my divine knowledge for their own harvests. I shall pick five of you and that is all." Demeter's voice was as soft as the gentle breeze in spring though it held a disgust in it as well.
With her opening finished she turned to a young farmer in the crowd and pointed to him. "You. Hurry now and ask your question"
The young farmer hurried to his feet and bowed his head. "Madame Demeter, your holiness. I wish to ask you is the things I've heard of that state music shall grant higher crop yields when played around growing vegetation?"
Demeter smirked before answering. "Yes. Though only the divine songs of harvest shall work. You may purchase this in the capital during the harvest festival."
As the man thanked her he returned to his seat before Demeter went around to ask another person. She a short while considering who was next before settling on a young businessman in the middle rows.
"Lady Demeter, your holiness. What is the best brand of fertiliser for crops" The businessman asked.
"My personally blessed brand. Demeter's finest shall fix all your issues." Demeter responded.
Demeter finally turned to the crowed and pointed at AL. "You"
AL stood up and brandished his blade. "Lady Demeter. Would you say this its a good thickness for a field tiller blade?"
Before she could answer AL swiped his blade in a straight line. As he did an invisible curtain fell Infront of Demeter. As it did the woman disappeared leaving something else in its wake. It was huge, A nine foot tall mantis with rotting fruit and vegetables upon its back but the upper body of the mantis was human. A perfect match of the woman previously on stage but instead of her delicate arms there was grotesque bone scythes attached to nubs of rotting flesh. The people in the crowd began to panic as they saw Demeter's true form. Running and screaming in fear from the grotesque monster that they once worshiped.
Chapter 13: The worlds Devil.
Demeter let out a furious raw before pointing her hand at AL. "YOU BUG! HOW DARE YOU! I WILL ERADICATE YOU!" She shouted now her voice had taken on the anger of a spring thunderstorm.
Energy crackled down the body of her scythe hands before they glowed with black malice filled energy. She swiped them towards AL launching two energy blades at him that he made no effort to dodge getting knocked back into the high stands
"AL!" Gislea shouted before rushing to the stage her blade in hand. "How dare you... You claim to be divine and merciful yet you do that."
Demeter in a blind fury charged up another blade of energy ready to fire it at Gislea before a black projectile shot her in the face. Cooper from the VIP box had shot a radiation bullet at the god disrupting the charging for a moment. Her target changed now sending the weakened energy blade towards Cooper. Suddenly Orisuki leaped in the air taking the blade with the head of her hammer. The impact caused the blade to explode launching Orisuki back into the box with Cooper.
"Ha... this enough drama for you" Orisuki said as she dusted herself of and receiving a healing shot from cooper.
Njax clattered up to the stage as well to stand with Gislea.
"I... You are what I worshiped all this long. No. You are an imposter... just like AL said." Njax said as he calmed his nerves. "I will revel in your death vial imitation."
Demeter still in a blind rage charged both her scythes up once more. There was no getting away this time. AL, Orisuki or Cooper could save them this time they'd feel the full brunt of the divine mantis's strike. Or would they?
As the energy was about to leave her hands a man appeared in-between the the two teens. With his bare hands he caught the energy blades but to the spectators on the stages shock they didn't explode they just disappeared as if they never existed. The man took one step closer to the mantis gripping the tip of her scythe hands with his pinkie finger and his thumb and with a slight tug he ripped them clean off. The mantis attempted to run but it was fruitless as the man used her ripped off hands to slice her legs off followed by her head, he then used them to cleave open her chest revealing a glowing blue orb. He manifested a spear in his hand before launching it with the click of his fingers into the orb destroying it instantly.
"Perish false divine one. Suffer for an eternity more." The man spoke before stabbing the scythe hands into corpse of Demeter.
He then turned to get a look at the kids. They now had a good look at their saviour. He was roughly five foot nine and was built with lean muscle. He wore a black shirt and black trousers. His hair and eye brows were bushy and unruly, clearly greasy as well. The most obvious thing though? He reeked of sweat and blood to the point it made the two physically gag.
"Hmm. You must be the kids AL picked up yeah?" The man spoke in a more gentle and playful voice. "Do I need to introduce myself? Eh guess it couldn't hurt. My names Orpheus Foxmun, its a pleasure to make your acquaintance"
"The devil" Gislea and Njax spoke simultaneously "We just got saved from a god by the devil. What the fuck is going on."
"Damn you save someone's life and they call you a devil for it." Orpheus jested as he pointed towards the box Orisuki and Cooper were in. He clicked his fingers and a giant spear manifested making a bridge from the box down to the stage. Orisuki and Cooper came bounding down it quickly after.
AL who had snuck down to the stage chuckled. "Excellently done my son. Hope the situation we set up was acceptable for you." He said before patting Orpheus on the shoulder.
"Flashy as always, Orphy" Orisuki said as she approached.
Cooper sat down and didn't say anything just giving Orpheus a smirk.
"We should probably go." Gislea spoke to break the triumphant moment "The authorities have definitely been notified."
"I'll be here a moment more." Orpheus replied. "Should only be a couple minutes."
AL nodded knowing what Orpheus was going to do.
The group ran out the fire exit and into the carriage awaiting Orpheus's arriving in the carriage. After hordes of officers filled the streets AL had to get the horses to move quick leaving Orpheus behind.
After escaping the officers on the open roads and entering the ever dark plains again the group breathed a sigh of relief. Then Gislea spoke up.
"We just abandoned Orpheus... aint that gonna really piss him off?" Gislea asked with a growing respect for the man who saved her.
"Nah" A familiar voice could be heard before the sounds of heavy boots clattering against the wood of the carriage followed. Orpheus had caught up to them. He had sprinted the entire way back to the carriage barely having broken a sweat. "I aint one to get upset by such"
"You cant be human." Njax said in confusion at the sheer speed Orpheus displayed. "No normal person"
"A piece of advice lad. Using the logic of normal people with him aint gonna go well, I should know since I've got his health records" Cooper responded with a chuckle at Njaxs mesmerisation and also how unbothered Gislea was.
"Alright quit fanboying." Orpheus joked as he walked up front to AL. "We going home now?"
"That'd be right" AL replied. "You send the declaration of war?"
"Yup. Now we wait" Orpheus responded as he saw the forest they were entering knowing they were nearly home.
MEANWHILE BACK IN THE STABLES THEATRE HOUSE:
The sun god Suraya burst into the grand theatre in human form. He wore a black suit as well as a black balaclava barley blocking the fiery glow of his skin. He marched past traumatised workers and visitors furiously. He had been dragged down during his meal time after a long day of meetings to see a message that was directed to him. When he'd enter the hall he'd see the message. On the curtains of the hall was a message reading "CAN YOU SEE ME SURAYA?" made from Demeter's blood. Then sat in his chair that he'd watched many a play in was Demeter's corpse with a letter stapled to her forehead. it was a declaration of war from Orpheus detailing where they'd fight the battle and encouraged him to bring his best.
"A war..." Suraya spoke in disgust. "A war you will get devil."
