Chapter 34: Behind the Calm

As Gu Fenyi and Su Ting walked to the car, the Gu couple exchanged looks of disbelief.

“When did she get so close to the second son of the Ye family?” Zhang Xin whispered.

They didn’t notice how even the servants now obeyed Gu Fenyi’s every word.

In the car, Gu Fenyi opened her book—Human Chairs—and started reading.

Su Ting watched her, baffled. She was reading that strange book again. Was it real interest? Or a performance?

He closed his eyes, still trying to figure her out.

Then he asked, “Did the Fourth Young Master really get into a fight with Jiang Jing and land in the police station?”

“Yes.”

“Did President jiang come by, too?”

“Yes.”

She looked up, one hand pressing down on the page.

Su Ting glanced at her fingers—gentle, not rushed.

“Did Jiang Er file you a complaint?” she asked.

He chuckled. “President Jiang Er values his reputation. If he wanted to complain, he’d go straight to Mr. Ye—not me.”

Gu Fenyi nodded. “Then that’s enough, isn’t it?”
