Chapter 4 Blunder
Ryan stopped paying attention to the rain. He took out a stack of banknotes and lit them with a lighter before throwing them on the ground.
The wet ground did not extinguished the combustion. In a very short time, the fire spread along the gasoline towards the supercars.
Ryan thought it was too dangerous standing only a hundred meters away, so he retreated a dozen more meters with his umbrella.
At this time, the fire had already reached the supercars, instantly igniting all of them.
Boom! Boom!
Ryan ran away with his umbrella. His eyes were filled with excitement as he saw more than 30 sports cars explode into fireworks in the night sky with flaming fragments flying everywhere.
But soon, the ground began to be shaking. Ryan flustered as he looked down.
The underground seemed to be lit up. A red light quickly appeared and rushed towards him at fast speed.
At the same time, there was a strong smell of gas in the air.
"Fuck!"
Ryan realized instantly that there must be a gas pipeline underground.
He instinctively turned around and ran in a farther direction.
Bang!
Before Ryan could run further, an extremely terrifying force had surged towards him and thrown him into the sky before hurling him towards the ground in a parabola.
Ryan was blown about a dozen meters away and fell to the ground.
He felt as if his whole body was falling apart and every part of it was in pain.
It was a narrow escape. Fortunately, he had been prudent and stood far away from the center of the explosion.
Otherwise, he would have died.
Lying on the ground, Ryan could heard explosions one after another. Frightened, he looked back.
The world behind him had turned into a sea of fire. A flame rose dozens of meters high and illuminated the surrounding skyscrapers.
The fire danced wildly in the air and on the ground, spreading rapidly in all directions.
Ryan was stupefied and hurriedly propped up his arm, intending to run as far as he could.
But as he did that, he found that his left arm was in great pain.
He looked down, only to see that his Anima shirt had been completely rotten, and there was a long bloody mark on his elbow.
Only then did he remember that he had landed on his left arm first, with almost all his weight on it. No wonder it was injured.
But at this moment, Ryan had to run for his life. So he gritted his teeth and struggled to get up, quickly running towards the armored vehicle not far away.
After Ryan got on the car and looked around, he found that the whole city seemed to be burning, with flames shooting up into the sky everywhere.
It was obvious that he had made a big mistake this time. His fire ruptured the underground gas pipeline. And then the fire ignited the gas and detonated the pipeline below.
Ryan had no time to rue at this moment. He hurriedly stepped on the accelerator and rushed in the direction of safe areas.
Fortunately, the range of the explosion was not very wide. He reached a safe distance after driving for a while.
Looking back at the world in the distance that had turned into flames, Ryan gave a wry smile.
There was nothing dangerous in this world, but he almost killed himself.
"Forget it. I'll stop causing trouble for a few days."
Ryan was a bit tired after the past four days' adventure, so he decided to take a few days off. Just as he was about to drive back to Central Plaza to treat the injury on his arm, he discovered that a wind had begun to blow outside.
The rain was blown against the car windows, making a popping sound, and the fragments produced by the explosion flew farther away under the strong wind.
This was abnormal. It had been raining for four consecutive days, and now there was suddenly a strong wind along with a big fire.
Ryan stopped the car and looked back, only to see that the fire was spreading towards the distance at a faster speed with the help of the wind.
His pupils shrank, and he decisively stepped on the accelerator to the bottom, speeding away in a hurry.
Because the flames over there seemed to be consciously rushing towards a gas station not far away.
Boom! Boom!
Ryan hadn't rushed out far when a series of explosions were heard.
He knew without looking back that the fire had exploded the gas station.
Ryan felt lucky that he had survived it. He stared at the fire for a moment, then stepped on the accelerator and drove away at a faster speed.
The fires didn't worry him. Since it was raining heavily outside anyway, he expected these fires to be put out sooner or later.
When Ryan arrived at Central Plaza, he found the entire building was pitch black and the elevator had no power.
Ryan couldn't believe his eyes. Then did he realize what was wrong.
In a city without people to operate it, the power system would eventually collapse.
Although Ryan was not told how long it would take, now it seemed four days was the limit.
Ryan never considered this potential problem when he was busy causing trouble everywhere."
"Forget it. It's a big city. I'll find generators."
Although Ryan was not afraid of power outages, he could not go back to Emerald Bay Hotel again, for it would be too tiring to climb to the 90th floor.
There were empty houses everywhere. He could easily find a comfy place to sleep.
But before that, Ryan decided to find a pharmacy to treat the wound first on his arm.
He searched for the nearest pharmacy on the navigation and drove there immediately.
In the drugstore, he found some medicine and bandages with the flashlight on his cell phone and simply treated the wound.
Then he drove his car to a residential area, picked an apartment at random and slept there for the night.
After a busy day and being injured, Ryan was tired and fell asleep quickly on the bed.
Some hours passed before he felt hot all over and smelled a pungent odor that woke him up.
Ryan opened his eyes and was shocked to see a sea of fire.
The room had caught fire for no reason.
Ryan was so frightened that he was utterly sobered. He looked around in astonishment, unable to understand what was going on for a moment.
The raging fire soon reached the bed. Ryan had no time to figure out the reason.
He looked around anxiously and tried to conceive a way to leave the room.
But the door was already on fire.
The entire bedroom, except for a small space near the bed, was filled with raging flames.
It was no doubt that the living room must have been on fire too. Rushing over there would be tantamount to seeking death.
When Ryan was nervously thinking of a solution, his eyes suddenly caught the floor-to-ceiling window opposite the bed.
