"What the hell?" Vlad yelled, voice booming as he bolted from the healer's room, vial still clutched in hand. The pack house was chaos—warriors shouting, boots stomping, tables knocked askew in the great hall. Casey followed, apron dusted with herbs, eyes wide as she scanned the mess.
"Varkis broke out!" a warrior shouted, voice hoarse, pointing toward the courtyard door, splintered wood hanging off its hinges. "Left two guards bleeding!"
Vlad cursed under breath, striding through the hall, dodging a toppled chair. "How'd he get loose?" he snapped, voice sharp, glaring at the warrior who shrank back, hands fumbling with a sword belt.
"Dunno, Alpha," the warrior mumbled, head shaking. "He was chained, then—bam! Gone. Blood everywhere."
