Chapter 35: The Sovereign Pact
3 Days Later After the New Patch 7.0.0 was released:
The sky over Enigma's central region shimmered like glass touched by flame. System updates rippled through the very atmosphere—somewhere between digital reverberation and divine resonance. The world felt alive, reactive, as if watching its inhabitants with new eyes.
In the heart of Central Skyrealm, the High Citadel's bells tolled, not from pre-written scripts or programmed triggers—but because the People of the Realm had chosen to ring them.
News of the awakening had spread like wildfire.
Eira stood beneath the golden spires with Zaphro and Accel beside her, flanked by Leanne and Gwydox. Around them were recently-awakened former NPCs—now citizens in their own right—each wearing expressions of awe, confusion, and in some cases, terror.
"I didn't think this many would respond," Accel muttered.
"They weren't waiting for a signal," Eira said. "They were waiting for permission."
Leanne looked around. "So what now? We give them citizenship cards? Register them for taxes?"
"Kind of," GM Akil said as he emerged from a shimmering system gate. "We guide them… before someone else misuses this."
Zaphro's gaze narrowed. "Like Rowan."
Akil nodded grimly. "Rowan's Glitch-Crowned transformation destabilized Core V2. He left behind traces in the data stream—residue of unfinished protocols. He might be dead and gone but his will might still linger and passed out to another's body."
"Meaning he's not done," said Kaizen, stepping forward, his voice low. "Even as a rogue, he's still part of the system. He has a lot of failsafe protocols he must've prepared for something like this. A way to reincarnate and be reborn."
"He was a GM once," Aero added. "He still has failsafe access routes… and with Core V2 synced to him it is not impossible."
Eira stepped forward. "Then we form a pact."
Kaizen raised an eyebrow. "A pact?"
"A Sovereign Pact," she clarified. "One that binds the awakened to the players not as code or subjects, but as equals. As defenders."
Zaphro folded his arms. "You're saying… an alliance between players and the People of the Realm."
"Yes," Eira said firmly. "And I'll take responsibility for their guidance. But they need champions—player representatives. Guardians."
"Like guild envoys?" Accel asked.
"Exactly," said Aero. "Chosen leaders to serve as the bridge."
A sudden flash of system code rippled through the citadel sky like a prophecy being written in real-time.

Back in the plaza, Gwydox grunted, leaning against a marble pillar.
"Wonderful. Diplomacy. My favorite kind of quest."
Leanne elbowed him. "You'd rather go back to yelling at broken portals?"
"At least those don't talk back."
Kaizen stepped to the center of the plaza. With a wave of his hand, a great sigil of light formed in the air: the Enigma emblem, now rewritten with Eira's flame-like mark behind it.
"This world is no longer a sandbox," Kaizen declared. "It's an evolving plane. And from today forward, no player nor AI stands alone."
Cheers erupted from both players and awakened citizens. Some wept. Others simply stood in stunned silence.
Accel looked at Eira. "And the world... will be okay now?"
Eira's voice trembled softly.
"No. Not yet. But it will be ours."
