Chapter 32

  Serena's POV.

I jolted awake, my eyes snapping open to darkness. I wrapped myself tightly in the blankets, but my parched throat protested, forcing me to sit up.

My gaze darted to the clock, and I was shocked to see it was 2:00am. How had I slept for so long?

I tossed aside the covers and reached for the water jar, only to find it empty. With a sigh, I stood up, my legs aching from the sudden movement.

I shuffled to the bathroom, jar in hand, and filled it with cool water.

As I lifted the jar to my lips, I caught a glimpse of something out of the corner of my eye - a shadowy figure passing by. My heart skipped a beat, and I froze, the water jar hovering near my mouth. Maybe I was just spooked,

I told myself, trying to shake off the feeling. But as I took a sip of the water, I saw it again - the shadowy figure darted past the doorway.

This time, I couldn't ignore the shiver that ran down my spine. I dropped the cup, my heart racing, as I stood frozen in terror.
