Chapter 40

  Serena's POV.

“Ross!” I screamed, my voice echoing through the battlefield as I scrambled down from the tree.

I pushed through the warriors, not caring about the danger, my only focus on reaching Ross.

I dropped to my knees beside him, my hands cradling his face.

"Ross," I whispered, tears streaming down my cheeks. His eyes flickered open, and I begged, "Ross, stay awake, please, for me."

With a surge of adrenaline, I helped Ross to his feet, his hands grasping my shoulders for support. But before we could take a step, the rival pack's warriors blocked our path.

Something inside me snapped. I felt a rush of power and fury, and I kicked the nearest warrior with all my might.

He crashed to the ground, and I snatched his sword, my heart pounding in my chest.

I didn't think, I didn't reason. All I knew was that I had to protect Ross, had to save him.

I wielded the sword, my movements wild and desperate, as I faced the rival pack's warriors.
