The revelation

On the outskirts of the pack, Aliana ordered the sentry to send Roxi and an escort of four warriors to help the Alpha. They organized themselves quickly. Xioma was part of this team.

As they made their way to the scene, Aliana described what had happened, and everyone marched quickly, deeply concerned.

When they arrived, they saw the couple lying on the ground. Roxi quickly went to check the Alpha's pulse. She noticed his serious injuries and congratulated Luz on the bandages. She immediately set to work, placing her hands on the Alpha's body to infuse him with her healing magic. Taking him back to the pack in such bad shape without immediate treatment would be fatal for the Alpha.

Luz could only watch as the wounded wolf clung to life. Little by little, his most superficial wounds closed and the deepest ones stopped bleeding, but he was far from being completely healed, as some of his wounds were too severe. Little by little, the great wolf began to slip into a relaxed unconsciousness, his muzzle still resting on Luz's lap as he enveloped himself in the intoxicating scent of his mate.

Two of the warriors stood guard near the healer, while Xioma and the other warrior explored the area in search of clues. They looked at the monster's body in amazement, as they had never seen one of this shape and size before. It looked like it had come straight out of hell. They tried to follow its tracks, which appeared in front of where they had been attacked, but there were no traces of footprints elsewhere. It was as if it had teleported, something monsters could not do in this world.

While Roxy continued to infuse her power through the animal's unconscious body, Luz stood up carefully, gently placing the wolf's head on the floor as her legs went numb. It really was a large head that had crushed her lap.

While Xioma analyzed how to dispose of the Antrax's body, a centuries-old custom since they didn't want to attract other monsters in search of food, Luz approached and, as she also looked at the thing, asked, "What are you thinking, Beta?"

Xioma looked at her in surprise, as they had never spoken before. Her answer was brief: "We must get rid of the body, as it will attract other monsters."

"And how will you do that?" The creature and possible future moon had one arm across her chest and one hand on her chin, frowning.

"We usually bury them in deep graves to hide their smell," replied one of the warriors.

Luz circled the enormous Antrax, still looking at him with her hand on her chin, deep in thought. She circled him three times, searching for a solution.

"Maybe we can cremate them," Luz said aloud to herself. She often talked to herself, so this wasn't the first time she had voiced thoughts that should have remained in her head.

Xioma asked her what she meant by cremate, as she had never heard that term before.

Luz realized that while she was talking to herself, the wolves were watching her intently. "Me and my big mouth, talking to myself," Luz thought to herself. She had no choice but to begin explaining that cremating a body meant burning it and reducing it to ashes. She also mentioned that this was customary for the bodies of the deceased on her planet. It was a way of saying goodbye, and then they were left in sacred places such as cemeteries, but the vast majority had the custom of scattering the ashes in places special to the family or the deceased, such as the sea. Her uncle was a man of the sea, and when he died, his ashes were scattered in the ocean, fulfilling his last wish.

The wolves looked at each other, thinking it would be impossible to burn a body as huge as Antrax's.

Luz, who was still standing next to the monster, once again voiced her thoughts aloud and, as she bent down and stretched out one of her fingers to touch Antrax, she said, "If only you would disappear and turn to ashes!

What happened next left everyone stunned, including Luz, because as soon as she made that comment and pushed the body with her finger, Antrax exploded into ashes, emitting a faint "paf" sound, leaving everyone near Antrax covered in ashes.

You could see the amazement in Luz's huge green eyes, contrasting with the ash color of her dirty skin as she coughed after accidentally inhaling some of it.

Before processing what had happened, Roxi, who was much further away, called Xioma to tell her that they could now safely transport the Alpha to the herd.

The men quickly took his body and began their journey. They remained silent as their minds turned to the image of the Antrax transformed into ashes.

Upon reaching the pack, Xioma ordered that what had happened during the attack be kept confidential, especially what they had seen of the human. This was definitely information that could not be leaked to friends or enemies; it was dangerous for the pack and for the future moon.

They quickly took the wolf's body to his room. Aliana and Roxi stayed by his side the entire time, and Luz accompanied them, worried. She wanted to know the condition of the wolf who had once again saved her life.

She affectionately stroked the fur on his back. Suddenly, she saw the fur recede, revealing skin, and she heard bones cracking. It was almost like a horror movie. Frightened, she watched as the wolf transformed into a man, lying completely naked and unconscious on the bed.

As she looked at his back, she could barely make out the man's masculine profile, and as she got closer, she froze.

It was definitely Alpha Caspian. No one had mentioned his name outside for her to hear, but what Luz didn't know was that most of the time, wolves used their mental link to communicate.

Luz was conflicted. She was about to run away, a wave of mixed feelings running through her slender body while a weight on her heart gave way to a pain she couldn't understand. She was no longer sure of anything, and what she considered absolutely normal, which was to be as far away from the Alpha as possible, now her mind was torn between recognizing her feelings towards the Alpha, wondering if it was compassion, remorse, or something else.

Her emotional state was now chaotic, preventing her from thinking clearly, and in a minute her mind went blank. How would she face the man who had caused her agony but at the same time had saved her life to the point of almost losing his own?

Aliana called her name, but Luz did not respond, lost in her thoughts.

The she-wolf called her name again and this time touched her shoulders, bringing her out of her trance.

"What's wrong, Luz? Why do you look like that?" Aliana asked her with concern.

The human fixed her gaze on Aliana and then her sad eyes turned to the unconscious body of the Alpha, who was now covered by a white sheet while Roxi kept her hands on him, infusing him with healing energy.

"It was him, it always was. Why didn't you tell me?" This time Luz spoke with a broken voice full of emotion, showing sadness, disappointment, and uncertainty.

"Luz, you didn't ask, you never did, and I didn't feel it was necessary to mention it," the young wolf said, omitting the information that Caspian had ordered her not to reveal. She didn't understand why it was necessary, but she didn't disobey her brother's order.

This time, Luz moved to the other side of the bed to get a better look at Caspian's bloodied face. She closed her eyes and fell to her knees, her face closer to the Alpha's. Tears streamed down her cheeks, leaving obvious trails where they dragged the ashes still clinging to his body.

"Is he going to be okay?" she asked Roxi, who nodded softly.

Roxi, after drawing her own conclusions from watching the interaction between the two young women, commented, "Luz, you need to take a bath and rest so you can gather your thoughts. Believe me when I tell you that the Alpha will be fine. He'll just need a little more time since his injuries were serious. I'll be with him for the next few hours."

The girl obeyed and went to her room, her mind still in emotional turmoil. She sought solace in a warm bath, simply lying there staring into space as she mentally retraced her life since she arrived in this world of wolves. Contradictory feelings enveloped her, a true emotional vortex. She did not understand this tumult of diverse reactions toward a man who was her captor and torturer, yet at the same time her savior, full of affection, remembering the need to caress his wolf skin and fill that animal with affection.

Tears ran down her cheeks and small sobs escaped her lips. She felt a deep pain and anguish in her chest, not knowing that this suffering was due to the bond between them.

Closing her eyes, she sank her head into the tub as she once again tried to gather her thoughts. She remained motionless until she could no longer hold her breath, then emerged from the water, taking a deep breath, this time maintaining a calm demeanor. She got up, took a large white towel to dry her body, and got dressed. The next thing she did was rush to the Alpha's room.
