The two kept interfering with each other, leaving me stuck in the middle, unable to eat or touch. Every time my nerves were piqued, they were pressed back down again.
I was utterly exhausted, almost on the brink of a nervous breakdown.
"It's too late. Stop joking around, go to sleep. I'm turning off the lights."
After I said that, I switched off the main light in the train compartment, pretending to sleep soundly. The two women played with their phones for a while, then also switched off the small bedside lamps.
Finally, the world quieted down.
Just as I was drowsily drifting into slumber, suddenly I felt a soft and delicate hand climbing onto my chest. In the pitch-black compartment, I abruptly opened my eyes to see a pair of big eyes staring at me, as bright as cat eyes.
Startled, I sat up immediately, just about to call for help when that jade-like hand covered my mouth: "It's me!"
Hui's voice?
When did she climb down from the top bunk, oh my god?
"And me! Doctor Wang!"
