Before coming to Thailand, I read a lot online about the chaos in Myanmar's environment.
Electric fraud, romance scams, imprisonment, organ trafficking... lawless and sunless.
I was sure I wouldn't go to Myanmar, but I never expected to encounter the same situation in Thailand!
I was taken by a van out of the city, jolting for two hours, and arrived at a place resembling a small town.
The town is not a tourist area, looking very desolate, with hardly any passersby, only one factory district after another fenced with barbed wire.
Around the factory districts, there are towers with armed guards patrolling.
I was brought into one of these factory districts.
This is the base of the underground gambling syndicate.
In recent years, Myanmar's reputation has gotten so bad that fewer people fall for scams, so many gangs have moved their bases to neighboring countries like Laos, Myanmar, Vietnam, and Cambodia.
