On the way, Gu Xian's phone vibrated several times, all messages from Xu Man asking if he got home safely.

I unlocked the screen, intending to reply politely.

But then I saw his chat history with his friends.

"The fake marriage is my last chance. If she still doesn't come back, I'll really have to give up."

"Post the news of my marriage in the class group, but don't say too much to others."

My finger paused on the screen, and I abruptly turned off the phone.

But my breathing became uncontrollably rapid.

No matter how much I opened my mouth, oxygen couldn't enter my chest.

Tears flowed down the corners of my eyes, more and more recklessly.

No wonder he suddenly proposed to me three days ago.

No ring, no wedding house, no betrothal gifts.

Just one sentence: Don't tell the family.

I thought he felt guilty for not giving me enough ceremony, thought my dedication had finally moved him.

But I didn't expect that the wedding I'd waited eight years for was simply his chip to entice Xu Man back home.

The last trace of reluctance in my heart for this relationship was finally and completely exhausted.

I could only continuously comfort myself.

Since I have decided to leave, nothing about them has anything to do with me anymore.

Once home, some of Gu Xian's drunkenness subsided, and he went straight to the bathroom to freshen up.

I prepared honey water for him, as Xu Man had suggested.

In these last three days, I don't want to leave regrets in this relationship.

Just as I sat on the sofa, a call from my boss came in.

Discussing the handover of work before my departure.

As the call ended, Gu Xian's annoyed voice unexpectedly rang out:

"Leaving? Where are you going?"

He wiped his wet hair with one hand and asked me expressionlessly.

I handed him the honey water, speaking lightly:

"It's nothing, just a business trip."

He didn't bother to think more, or perhaps he simply didn't care about anything concerning me.

He took the cup, ready to drink, only to notice the honey inside.

His brows instantly furrowed.

And he angrily questioned me:

"Who taught you this?"

"Don't just look up random things online, what's online doesn't suit everyone!"

He slammed the cup heavily onto the table and turned back to the bedroom.

A bitter smile uncontrollably spread on my face.

As expected, the methods of the white moonlight are not something I can mimic.

The next day was supposed to be the day for our wedding photoshoot.

When Gu Xian woke up, it was as if nothing had happened, his attitude toward me as cold as ever.

After having seen his tenderness towards Xu Man, I could no longer believe it was just his nature.

As we finished breakfast and were about to leave, he glanced at his phone.

Suddenly he said: "Let's not shoot the wedding photos in the park, let's go to the school instead. I saw it's popular online lately."

My hand, tidying up the dishes, paused.

"Alright, anything's fine, I'll go with your suggestion."

I knew why he changed plans suddenly.

Because Xu Man had posted a moment this morning about reminiscing and visiting the alma mater.

I didn't expose his childish lie to his face, just didn't want to embarrass myself when the relationship was almost over.

There's only a day and a half until I leave the country, and I want to leave some dignity for both of us.

Before leaving the house, I already guessed what would happen today, so I specifically chose a wedding gown that was easy to walk in.

The photographer led us to the playground, where Gu Xian looked around for a long time and finally saw a familiar figure under the trees.

Without saying a word to me, the next moment he turned and went straight to find Xu Man.

I looked at the bewildered photographer and gave an embarrassed smile.

"Sorry for bringing you here for nothing, let's call it a day. We'll still pay you."
